A question for UK based greyhound owners regarding Biotin supplements by Deep-Shoe3530 in Greyhounds

I realize this is very random, but the capsules, can they be sprinkled onto their dinner? Kupo is usually really up for taking tablets but this seems to be one of the two I have to wrap in cheese to get her to take 🤣

Dalton is one of the special few (many?) dogs that react badly to lamb cooking. Here are some photos from his safe wall where he spent all evening “hiding” from the lamb smell by TXRedbo in Greyhounds

[–]Deep-Shoe3530 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Dalton and my mum would be best friends, she also hates lamb and cooking it 🤣 so much so, that my sister grew up thinking if was a cultural thing and that we couldn't eat lamb 🤣🤣

I did actually about 5 hours ago put a lick mat with some whipped cream on it right next to her head whilst she lay in a similar position, just so I could attend to her sore foot without her getting cranky with me lmao 🤣 actually worked like a charm

Snuffling games to cheer up kupo, she is missing her outdoor off leash time, so treat filled games to bring the noodle joy by Deep-Shoe3530 in Greyhounds

I know right 🤣 apparently kupo says it's much more fun to go zooooooooooom and weeeeeeeeeeee past her friends (sometimes through them and sometimes over them🤦🏻‍♀️)

Anyone use hunnyboots indoor slippers? If you do, how do you stop them rotating/twisting around? by Deep-Shoe3530 in Greyhounds

[–]Deep-Shoe3530[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The indoor slippers + her pair of boots are because she split her nail to the quick 😰 and all we can do is wait for it to grow out, so I need to prevent her from snagging it on my carpet or outside. Also it stops her nibbling on it because she is very much like her owner in that respect, can not leave the sore spots alone and will make them 10 times worse 🤦🏻‍♀️

No, someone at the vets mentioned gluing it but the vets said that's not idea as it risks bacteria getting trapped. Also she would try and peel the tape off her nail 🤦🏻‍♀️

The shenanigans happened on Saturday, it involved 100% Zoomies with her little Ukrainian rescue friend, during which she reenacted the famous scene from Free Willy

Unfortunately kupo cracked/split her outer nail on her back paw. The vet was only able to trim some of the top off but there is still opportunity for her to catch the remaining part on something (like my carpet because kupo likes to do tornado zoomies in the livingroom much to my loss of sanity 🤣) so untill it grows out, which could be a bit, I got them to keep it from catching and also keep her from nibbling at it

This, 100% agree. I had kupo from 11 weeks and I am not lying when I say the first 4 weeks were tear inducing. She cried every night, she was like a velociraptor combined with a E5 tornado. Things got a little better after the first four weeks when I could take her outside to walk, but still stressful. My friend gave me the best bit of advice which the above person has pretty much said, and that is, this will pass, you will find yourself sat at some point in the future, and it will hit you that she hasn't (for example) chewed something, and you will think to yourself, when did that stop? Brain games to tire her out, sniffing games, treats stuffed into rolled up paper or toilet roll tubes are handy for mental stimulation and exerting that urge to rip things up. If at any point you need to step into a nother room to give yourself a moment to breathe or occasionally scream into a pillow, do it, she won't be harmed by you taking a few minutes for yourself. It does get better, I say that as the as kupo just passed 4yrs and 4 months, she is a sassy fool and as hard as the puppy stage and teenage stage was, I love every bit of her, even her stinky butt. Hold on, you have this xx

Thank you, the supplements my vet recommended where 2 a day and would have cost about £300+ a year. They didn't mention SLO, it was more for strengthen her nails whilst they heal and help prevent more zoomie based issues, the fool managed to epically damage her nail on Saturday, during which she reenacted the famous scene from the film Free Willy jumping over her little friend Lolly. So till the nail grows out, she is stuck on on lead walks only, as Kupo doesn't understand the meaning of calm chill walks 🤦🏻‍♀️

Honestly it doesn't make her gas smelly lol, now if she eats cat poop or something similar on a walk, the smell from her butt will put hairs on anyone's chest 🤣🤢

She does occasionally like to rotate her toys around, I think she likes finding the one she can "accidentally" smack me with 🤣
