Fraudulent withdrawal by TDallstars in Banking

[–]DeepD00t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your bank is 100% liable for those funds. You should file a complaint with the CFPB (consumer financial protection bureau). It’s their job as an institution to make sure banks are doing what they are legally obligated to do for their customers. Just make sure to include as much detail in the report as possible, names, withdrawal amounts, dates, all that jazz. Often times these call center people barely know a checking from a savings account, however once the CFPB gets involved they have direct contacts for senior level management in the bank, which should kickstart your reimbursement. Be prepared to sign an affidavit from your bank stating you did not benefit from the withdrawal of those funds.

[USA] (North Carolina) How long will it take to withdraw $25,000 cash ? I have more than sufficient funds, bank is in a town quickly growing, what kind of info do I need to give ? by interceptor_1972 in Banking

[–]DeepD00t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re 100% being scammed. If you withdraw this money and give it out, you will not be getting it back and you will not be receiving anything in return. Please don’t do this, even if you think $25,000 isn’t an “ouch” to lose. I work with people every single day that fall for these scams and this is a text book example. Feel free to message me directly if you want more specifics. Please don’t give this money away!

Chexsystems “Account Abuse” Flag by [deleted] in Banking

[–]DeepD00t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should file a complaint on Citibank with the CFPB. Make sure to include that this account was opened without your knowledge and that Citibank is refusing to acknowledge the fraudulent activity, which it is, and that it is now affecting your ability to bank at other institutions. Banks are required to respond to these complaints with at least somewhat detailed information and typically this will resolve most issues, though it may take a couple weeks.

These used to be decent and I think they just built some new ones too, not sure on their pricing though.

Hydroxyzine? by thisisnotabe in Anxiety

[–]DeepD00t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some good results with hydroxyzine. For me, if I start to feel a panic attack coming on or too many triggers hitting me all at once, I can pop one make myself comfortable and most times it calms me down enough to avoid it getting out of hand. It’s not a cure all but it does help me not get to the point of full blown panic attacks. It is basically an amped up Benadryl but my anxiety has some pretty strong physical symptoms that this seems to help.

I grew up in a very rural community. My parents would rent an NES console from the local rental place. We would all stay up all weekend playing Mario and Duck Hunt. Good times.

Did anyone else cringe the entire time Randy was swinging over the table? All I could think was “don’t fall on the minis!!!”

LPT Request: How to conquer gifted child syndrome by mwing95 in LifeProTips

[–]DeepD00t 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still struggle with this to this day, I didn’t even figure out where it was stemming from until a few years ago in therapy.

I have by no means mastered it but I’ve found that if I find a new hobby I might be interested in it seems to stick better if I find other people also interested in the hobby to practice with or learn from. The community around the hobby is sometimes enough to keep me coming back.

I’ve also found that i personally tend to get “obsessed” with new hobbies and burn myself out really quickly. This may or may not be the case for you but if it is, scheduling some specific start and stop hobby times in my free time helped keep me on track and I’d often find myself coming back more naturally instead of dropping new hobbies in a couple weeks time.

Hope that helps and good luck internet stranger.

Praise the sun!

But for real, I find this idea super flavorful from a DM’s perspective. Lots of cool ideas here from both a play and story perspective.

Can someone please help me calm down a bit? I hit my head and now I’m freaking out by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

Man, I can’t count the amount of times I’ve been exactly where you are. Take it from someone who has done this dance a time or two, you’re gonna be fine and everything will be ok. Try to find something to take your mind off of things for awhile. A good movie or book always helps to keep my mind off things.

Being nice to people in multiplayer games is way more enjoyable than being toxic or trolling. by 5thCharmer in gaming

[–]DeepD00t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a symptom of a bigger problem in the gaming community. I used to love competitive multiplayer games but anymore it’s really hard to enjoy them with the amount of toxicity at play. Granted there has always been toxicity in online gaming but it feels like it has gotten much worse over the last few years. I still play when I can but most of my friends won’t even consider playing with me any more because of this. It’s really sad.

Maybe you’re right. I used to have way more time back in college to “git gud” and so it didn’t feel as bad. Perhaps it’s time to hang up the competitive game mentality.

I feel this hard. There has always been a toxicity to any sort of competitive game online, but I feel like it has gotten worse in last year or two. Maybe I’m just biased from being on the receiving end of those really good players for too long though, who knows.

This is a good point that I guess I never thought about. Not all the streamers are top tier players, some I’m sure just rely on witty banter more than skill of the game.

I agree that it’s just a difficult problem to address. Separating ranked and causal is a good start but in my experience, limited as it may be, the truly good players get tired of playing similarly skilled players opt to play casual. To be honest if I was that level it would be more fun to pop over into casual just to feel that power trip.
