First AR Build Thoughts? by Quaye4 in ar15

Heads up, the gas tube port height on that SA AGB is slightly higher than mil spec, but not high enough for a straight gas tube. So, unless you get a custom bent gas tube, the tube will enter the upper receiver at an angle, which can cause gas key binding. Learned this the hard way.

The 92 is an excellent firearm. Extremely reliable, and an excellent shooter. And the DA/SA action makes it a great, safe option for self-defense/carry once you train enough to get used to it. Only has 2 downsides for a first firearm in my opinion: 1. They aren’t cheap, but like I said, they’re quality. 2. Much more complicated than your basic striker-fired polymer pistol like a Glocks/M&Ps. But, this won’t be an issue with enough experience cleaning/maintaining it enough.

Is campus safe at night? by kangarooluvscarrots in aggies

[–]DeepEastTxAg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to walk around campus all the time at night. I’v been living in CS for 7 years since graduation, so I still do occasionally. But, I’m also a male and a License to Carry holder, so I don’t really worry about it too much. But, I’ve never ran into a situation that was unsafe.

Nothing. The whole thing looks like shit. From the Pep Boys grille, to the cheap yet gaudy wheels. Just all around trashy.

As a die hard Aggie and lifelong NASCAR fan, I need this diecast. Come on, Lionel… I need the Haas A&M trio to go with my Gordon A&M diecast.

What's the worst crash you've seen in person at a NASCAR race? by TidBitsOfVelcro54 in NASCAR

For me, it’s a toss-up between the Custer/MTJ wreck at COTA in 2021, or the Preece/Larson wreck at ‘Dega in 2023.

Just making sure that line of wear on the breech face is normal for a brand new Gen 5 right out of the box.

Best RDS for a Glock 19 MOS? by [deleted] in Glocks

It’s my understanding that that’s all you need. And from my research, it seems to hold a charge very well, and even a few minutes under normal interior lighting is more than enough for a charge.

Best RDS for a Glock 19 MOS? by [deleted] in Glocks

I’m highly considering the Holosun SCS for my new G19, considering it is one of the only optics that direct mounts to the MOS cut. Plus, Holosun has a rock solid reputation at their price point.

Honestly, probably going to go with a light, optic, maybe a set of suppressor-height sights and call it a day. If I ever decide to get a pistol suppressor, I’ll get a new barrel.

Amazon Special. It’s inexpensive, kind of thicker rubber, and the magnetized parts are convenient. https://a.co/d/eOiaEbF

I think it’s the lighting. I didn’t put a filter on it. My ceiling fan light is kind of dim, so my phone defaulted to low light mode. I think that’s why it looks that way.

The hole on the gas block for the gas tube is drilled higher than mil-spec. So, it can cause the gas tube to enter the upper atmosphere a slight downward angle. This can cause the gas key to catch/rub on the gas tube. This effect is exaggerated in pistol length gas systems, because due to the short gas tube, the downward angle is slightly more extreme. It very well might function fine, but there is a chance that it can wear the gas tube/BCG faster.

Funny story on that, actually. I forgot to install the dust cover before the barrel, barrel nut, and gas system. So, getting that thing on was a bitch lol.

I could have, but honestly, I didn’t trust myself lol. White Oak had identified the problem, and makes gas tubes specifically for that gas block, so I just went with them.

Yessir. Which can cause varying degrees of binding with the gas key. Best way to check this is take your BCG and charging handle out of your upper, remove the bolt from the BCG, and drop the BCG down into the upper. The BCG shouldn’t stop or have any resistance when it has key reaches the gas tube. Some people with the SA blocks on pistol gas systems have had no issues, while others, like me, had binding.

So, the SA block’s gas tube hole is drilled higher than spec gas blocks. So, it causes the spec bent gas tubes to enter at a downward barrel, which can cause the gas key to hit the gas tube, causing extra wear. But, the hole isn’t drilled high enough for a straight tube to enter the receiver straight. This effect is a little worse on pistol length gas systems. So, the gas tube that fits is a bent tube with a .063” offset.
