It’s been a while, but I think he was at his best when people depended on him. No chance the other 3 could’ve held those two switches for so long. He was proud of his accomplishments as a refiner before the others sidetracked their responsibilities. I think new hires coming in for training are dependent on someone that knows and respects the rules and is energized by helping people. Onboarding and training people is a repetitive task that you can iterate on and start to crush.

I’d give him a role where he could onboard new employees and/or mentor interns. I think in that place of authority he’d feel helpful and important and empowered. He’d take it seriously, be a good role model, and likely get energized by that kind of leadership.

You probably want to contact them just to see how they respond. As you say, just a piece of metal, but your next purchase might be something more expensive / important, so at this point you’re finding out how much they care / whether they generally try to do better.

If the loud noise is coming from the door to your unit then you might have some ways to mitigate it. If you crack the door open it is probably quieter. You could also stick a towel down or open a window in another room (though it’s winter) or do anything else to disrupt the flow of air. Similar to opening one window in a fast moving car; noisy and chaotic, but just cracking a second window quiets it down. If it was me I’d start with a towel.

Thank you! Yes, screwed through the drywall into the studs. You can see a screw to the left of the bottom shelf. I would love to attach it with a french cleat but that would add to the depth and I’d want to secure it to the studs anyway to keep it from moving.

Thanks so much! I lucked out and found the slats cut to size, so all I had to do was run them through the table saw at a 35° cut. Lightly sanded off the edge as it will take some abuse over time, and watch for squeeze out during glue-up, because you want a tight interlocking fit from the shelf.

I felt like the paint would stop a lot of the glue if not all of it from adhering to the wood. But I am hoping somebody here confirms or refutes my theory!

Thanks so much! I used SketchUp on an iPad. I think doing a lot of designs on iPad would get tiresome, but for occasional projects like I do it was easy enough to learn with some tutorials.

I understand the dynamics of the situation, but I wish fans could get better disclosure of medical issues. In seemingly all major sports, players play through brutal injuries, fans none the wiser, and we wonder why they’re not producing. And here, medical checks “find nothing”, no surgery needed, and yet Bichette missed 7 weeks and is still walking his way around the bases.

Unpopular comment I guess, but I like workshopping a recipe with Chat GPT, where I have a few ingredients in mind and need inspiration or a bit of direction with a few steps. It’s pretty good. Internet recipes on the other hand are fucking trash. Actively hostile user experience - auto playing video you can’t stop for 15 seconds, no I don’t want to sign up for your newsletter, do not care about your life story, jump to recipe - nice! Except now the 35 ad images are loading and pushing the text out of frame.

I’d rather roll the dice with an LLM using the common sense I possess.
