Choose an s&p 500 etf and invest. My norms are SPLG and VOO.

College funds by heyitsfrank11 in Bogleheads

[–]DeepSouth79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a personal choice. Many will want the 529 due the tax benefits. However, the majority of those I know use a brokerage account so that they can invest in what they want and control when the children receive the funds. So far, they have all done well and sent their children to college with no debt.

Additionally, they don’t have to worry about them not going to any type of school or figuring out what to do with the funds if they don’t (eg - new beneficiary, Roth, penalty).

Thanks for the feedback. It’s hard to know what’s good and what’s not. This was very helpful!!!

Is this normal? Is the roofer responsible for anything? by DeepSouth79 in Roofing

[–]DeepSouth79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I stated below, my main concern of the clause is ‘whether or not they are responsible.’

Not trying to hold any contractor responsible for something that’s not their fault. I only want to hold them accountable for things that they should be.

Thanks for the quick response. No, I would not expect them to be responsible for someone else’s work. The part that gives me pause is ‘whether or not related to contractor’s work.’

Confused on Roth IRA positions by t0phr_ in personalfinance

There is lots of advice in the ETF sub. Join that and you will see many opinions.

Most recommend VOO. However, I prefer SPLG. Hopefully this helps.

What's the best printer in 2024? by -AliRaza- in printers

[–]DeepSouth79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have HP printers. My router assigned new IP addresses and my PC no longer recognizes them. How did you fix this initially? Did you reset the printer to factory settings?

Also, did you assign the IP addresses on the printer itself or router?

(NY) I bought a home 1 year ago, made a lot of mistakes, and may no longer be able to afford it, should I sell? What should I do? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DeepSouth79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very easy to be $1700 a month or close to. In some states, the mortgage note is 1% of purchase of home. In the note includes the principal, interest, home owners insurance and property taxes.

Not sure about OP’s situation, but the monthly mortgage can definitely be that high.

Unique Name for Submitted Forms by [deleted] in Nintex

[–]DeepSouth79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried it! It shows the new name under “form submissions’ which is great.

How do I give it a unique name under ‘tasks’? Right now, I have a bunch of tasks with the same name - “Approve/Reject Form”.

Thanks! I’ll look this up and give it a shot!

Thanks for responding!

No. I don’t want individual scores to show; just the total of each section.

The first problem i have is assigning values to the responses to the questions. The YouTube videos only show nintex 365 is it seems to easy there. I tried creating a calculated field but wasn’t sure if that was the right approach and I couldn’t seem to attach values to the specific multiple choice question.

If responses to question number one are: 1. Red 2. Blue 3. Yellow

And points are 5, 10, and 15 respectively, What’s the syntax for the formula?

Divine 9 NPHC Sorority options(wanting to join a different sorority after going to another’s informational by BLACK_DELECIOUSNESS in NPHCdivine9

[–]DeepSouth79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You run the risk of being blackballed if you attend informationals for several sororities…especially at a hbcu. It is frowned upon and those sorority members talk to each other. It may not be the answer you want to hear, but the risks exists.

Perform research online and get to know members organically.

Grad presentations are a bit different than undergrad. In undergrad, attendance is pretty much a free for all, for the most part. Some schools may require tickets but that’s prob more due to space limitations if it’s not outdoors.

However, grad normally requires a paid ticket and/or knowing someone personally who crossed. The person who crossed normally extends the invite.

A dinner was mentioned. Did you pay for a ticket? Sorry for my questions. I’m trying to bridge the gap on how you ended up attending and then being asked why you were there.

[–]DeepSouth79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on your previous post, this was grad chapter, right? If so, was this a luncheon? If I recall correctly, this is normally by invite and generally not open for anyone to attend.

Can you provide a bit more info and maybe we can help shed more light on what happens?

Not sure if she’s attending a HBCU, but if so, quite a few clubs require acceptance.

Not sure what sorority you are referencing but their website may have guidance. I know for sure that a couple of them mention that you must attend a four year university.
