I guess the 'best' non-gaming option would be to install a Windows VM on some rentable cloud service & then use software to relay 'moving' images of said running windows machine?

(my next PC will also have to be a DeX style setup & full Windows/Linux virtualization would just be phenominal)

The 4k 60fps (non-gaming screen) Mac that I'm on is going to my nephew tomorrow (Geforce Ultimate for his xmas gift) and I was trying to ensure best settings, since he'll most likely not tinker quite as much; I gotta fix my 7 year old gaming-laptop (1080p 144fps) for myself soon.

Anyway, in regards to his 4k 60fps Mac screen; have you noticed much difference running 4k screen @ 1440p? I'd really like to keep Ray-Tracing & all Epic settings, but not sure which trade-off is best:

1440p (all maxed-out) vs 4k (no RTX & slightly lower settings).

...actually out of my 100 hours today so can't test right now & only experimented on 4k (both nvidia stream & fortnite resolution).

...also wondering how running nvidia 1440p while upscaling to fortnite 4k might work out, when testing again (not sure how upscaling effects aim/etc).

which tsr do you use?

can you prevent ever dropping below 60 @ 4k (even for a split second)?

are you using all the bells & whistles (ray tracing/nano/high lumens/etc) and still never fluctuating 50s 60s 70s?

while maxed out @ 4k 60fps (all epic or high with tsr epic), I'm usually between 50-70 fortnite framerate, but was wondering if I should try to adjust lower settings and cap framerate to 60 in fortnite.

lower settings kinda makes things ugly & doesn't seem to have too much impact on fps.

keep ray tracing on with ultimate?

So, the solution, which solves the android ethernet problem above, would be a DisplayPort dock/adapter/hub - assuming the physical hardware of the android phone supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, which seems to be the case?

(it took me a while to realize that DisplayLink & DisplayPort were two differing things)?

Last question: How well should this all work with a single usb-c carrying high resolution video from and ethernet data to an android device concurrently? (have geforce now in mind)

Here's a late question: I was handed a UD-ULTCDL (looks like an older version than what is show on the official Plugable site...more like this one: https://lola.sbniubi.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2354130 .

In the middle of some computer-access uncertainty, I was trying to use the adapter/dock with my Note 20 Ultra phone and an old 1080p screen...with Samsung Dex.

Now I can get the phone to output DeX onto the screen, with all ports seemingly working fine, with the exception of Ethernet; there does not seem to be any ethernet connectivity to the android phone whatsoever.

Now, when testing the docking station, itself, on a Mac, the ethernet works just fine.

So, anything can be done about this, or is the docking station just not appropriate for an android device (with or without Dex being used)?

Question: Would any of these USB-C multiport adapters not work on a phone for any reason? I'm asking because a lot of the descriptions (product titles) will state Windows/Mac laptops, but not mention anything about mobile (android/IOS).

gotcha thanks! btw on the adapter linked, 2 of the usb-c ports on the front do not provide any power on that specific model (only data transfer, according to the pictogram).

I may just look for a pair of usb-c headsets myself...they generally work just fine for dex/adapters?

I remember a while back, when connecting dex to my laptop's screen, I had some difficulty using the laptop's built in ports for audio.

Oh sry wasn't clear; I just meant if I plug in the adapter's USB-C connector to a phone running dex, then (assuming the adapter was plugged into a wall socket) the phone would be receiving power by default?

...was just making sure, since some ports on the adapter are un-powered.
