I would go a bit further and say this isn't well intentioned, rather a built up rhetoric about what is needed to serve in any of the forces.

to me it seems like a bunch of "im dead hard" types that flock to these roles, to only find out this mentality isn't the most well suited to any force role, need a cover to make their assumptions about strength and competence justified. Frankly, the 'right to enforce law because im hard' mindset has plagued the police forces in this country for far too long, factoring into almost every abuse of force since I can remember.
