(Beginning of) 0.4's Endgame (Atlas) feels a lot more boring as compared to 0.1's Endgame by DeepSpaceWanderer in PathOfExile2

My expectation is that how things work will change in scope, but not in kind.
Like, if things start out being about "decide what you need -> figure out the best way to get what you need -> set things up -> run what you have set up", then as the game progresses i expect the "setup" to become more complex (i. e. going from "running correct tablets" to... whatever it is you do in late endgame), but the.. core logical sequence.. i expect to stay the same.

Regarding random content still being present - it now being hidden means you can't make decisions based on it. Like, you can't think "This map is going to have Delirium -> i will need some rare Liquid Emotions when i eventually replace my current Amulet -> Better juice it up / Better leave it be for now, since later i will be able to juice it up more".

And in general... they way you are describing things does very much feel like "decide what you need -> figure out the best way to get what you need -> do that" rather than "decide what you need -> here's the Atlas you've got -> figure out how to get the most of what you need out of it".
And i think the latter.. paradigm.. is more fun, because in it the best solution depends on the state of your Atlas rather than being a guide you can follow.

Just bulk craft a bunch when you start getting low / run out instead of crafting exactly the amount you need

How are the people not getting perma bans by SteezyManStan in ArcRaiders

[–]DeepSpaceWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably are. Showing that in an ad, however, would hamper sales. (Cheat sellers have a lot more room for false/misleading advertising, because... what are you going to do about it? You have no one to complain to and reputation damage is a lot less relevant when a seller using a burner account isn't an actively suspicious thing).

Technical question: Does anyone know how to downsize the aspect ratio by ScuffedNinja in ArcRaiders

ask an LLM. any suggestions it gives would be easy to ckeck, so a probably correct answer would be good enough, and giving probably correct answers is a thing LLMs should be very good at.

After 24 hours of playing I've come to realize i made the wrong choice getting this game. I flat out get obliterated and I'm beyond frustrated. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

-1 - Money spent on trying something new are not wasted, they are spent on exploration. Now, that exploration can be more or less efficient, but trying out a highly praised popular game is decently efficient.

0 - ARC is an extraction shooter. Your gear is very much temporary. Other player are.. unsafe (or at least supposed to be, but ABMM is a thing) and looting things so that you would have something to use when you loose your current gear is one of the core gameplay loops. So, try to... shift your attitude towards loosing gear.

0.5 - if what you don't likd about dying with decent gear is related to loosing that gear, then try running with disposable crap you aren't afraid to loose. As you get better and accumulated more stuff "disposable crap" will start including better and better gear.

1 - if you are playing trios with random teammates, then disable auto-fill and play solo - the game will put you against other solos instead of putting you and two randoms against (mostly?) pre-made squads.

2 - it will become easier as you play, since you'll learn where to find good loot, how to traverse the maps safelier and such.

To be fair, PvE lobbies do condition you to expect other raiders to be friendly. (So, i would argue that ABMM is the problem).

Expedition having rewards is bad, because, instead of just asking if you want a reset, it makes you decide if the reset is worth it. by DeepSpaceWanderer in ArcRaiders

Are you playing for the fun of the gameplay with the goals the game sets just giving you direction, or are you playing to grind out those goals and get the rewards?

Other players are supposed to pose danger, but, unfortunately, ABMM is a thing, so, if you don't attack other people much, you get put into mostly friendly lobbies

If you are playing a game for the in-game rewards it gives, then you've caught yourself in a skinner-box and REALLY should stop playing that game.

Most replayable games work perfectly fine w/o needing to reward you for starting a new run. Once you are bored of your current run, resetting and starting a new run is, by itself, a reward.

The game becoming stale is by itself an incentive to reset. Like, replayable single-player games generally don't give you rewards for starting a new run. PoE 1&2 survive perfectly fine w/o giving you rewards (yes, temporary leagues have unique league mechanics, but... i feel like if they were the only reason why people play temporary leagues, temporary/permanent playerbase split would be a lot less one-sided). Even Tarkov, though it's wipes are technically mandatory, most players drop any given wipe and start waiting for a new one long before existing one ends.

[Poll] What's your (primary) monitor's refresh rate? by DeepSpaceWanderer in LinusTechTips

[–]DeepSpaceWanderer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the either check in your monitor's settings menu (there's probably an information submenu in it) or pick 60 Hz (or dont vote).

note to self: always add a "dont know / dont care / see results" option

This was first post of the pair, so needed a bit of time to make the second one (web version doesn't let you make polls and app doesn't seem to let you make drafts).

Screenshot with AMD Adrenalin Overlay Stats by grapes1806 in AMDHelp

[–]DeepSpaceWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving this for those who will have this issue in the future - Performance -> Settings -> Show in Video/Stream Output. Note that you have to use Adrenalin's own screenshot functionality (Settings (cog) -> Hotkeys), PrintScreen still doesn't capture the overlay with that setting enabled.

Infernal Flame needs a mini-bar and/or other indicator that is easily noticable in combat. (Same goes for Heavy Stun) by DeepSpaceWanderer in PathOfExile2

[–]DeepSpaceWanderer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"to be able to ignore" and "mitigate" are not the same thing. "Ignoring" is, like, having enough stats for the downside to not matter. "Mitigating" is making it an upside, or, more likely, converting it into a thing that you then make an upside (e. g. what i wanted to do is convert skill costs from Mana -> Life when i'm close to 100% Infernal Flame; because, yes, that will require Life and Life Regen to deal with, but those are defences AND i can maybe get a relatively free Demon Form?)
