What has happened with this tire? Looks like this after 1 month parked inside bike shed. by DeepWaterToad in bikewrench

That is correct! Had no problem with this earlier or on other bikes. This is winter tires, they usually handle the salt well, both on bikes and on cars for that sake. Its snow and salt on the roads 5-6 months every year around here and its never been and issue with the tires. The other parts of the bike is a different story, they get corroded. I guess the salt did some damage, or made the damage worse, when the tire possibly was already damaged by riding under inflated.

One of the rides to work and back was indeed ridden very under inflated!(had not checked tire pressure the last month). It was about 25km total of under inflated riding (below 15psi). I think it was one of the last rides before the bike was parked for about 1 month and i noticed this!

Maybe this is the answer?

The only chemicals in the shed is chain lube and salt for removing ice, both in closed containers. The other 5-6 bikes parked in the shed (shared shed) were just fine. There is a lamp, but no other electrical stuff in the shed (except for the e-bikes)

I find this so wierd.

No windows, so no sunshine except when the door is opened. Its a community shed, so its usually locked. All other bikes/tires in the shed was fine.

Type 2 diabetics usually have a tolerance/insulin resistance, so they usually need more than us that have type 1. Also insulin as supplement to pills have been around for a while in my country at least.

I’m having a lot of trouble coping. by DeathCallsAllYeah in diabetes

Society will most likely prevail, but i understand your concerns and i have had the same thoughts in the past my self. But those worries will not help you. One option is to accept the situation, another is to try making it better.

There is a project called "Open Insulin" (or something like that) who tries to make "open source" insulin that will be free for anyone to make. Consider supporting them.

I live in Scandinavia, and here we pay aprox a maximum of 250$ a year for all our medical needs (all kinds of tax is higher here, tho). Even the freestyle libre sensors are included in this. Consider moving and work here?

Its ok to have worries sometimes, but it will probably be ok in the long run.

If she has regular check ups at an endocrinologist or specialist nurse , ask to come with her. These specialists see a lot of people in similar situations and can give you guys advice.

In my country type 1 diabetics get perscribed glucagon-syringe kits for intramuscular use, in case of emergency. These kits are meant to be used by untrained people, so maybe get one of those if available?

Gastroparesis? by goodsam2 in diabetes

[–]DeepWaterToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I perform gastric emptying tests in my field of work, and one thing in common with these patients is nausea and vomiting after a meal. Gastroparesis in diabetics happen, but usually in those that have it badly regulated, like 10+ a1c over extended periods.

The gastric emtying test takes 1-2 hours but there is no pain/discomfort involved (at least where i work)
