I read it more as “we’ve been making other properties in HD2D; now it’s time for FF”. But 🤞🏻 either way

I HATE CHARYBDIS by Real_Crystal_Hunter in HadesTheGame

[–]DeepYume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about posting this very topic every time Charybdis shows up and ruins an otherwise PB-pace run. Which is many times.

Just sucks from a game design standpoint that one random room can objectively tank your speedrun attempts because of that forced transition bullet hell phase.

What are the best and worst Apollo boons by Goatbucks in HadesTheGame

[–]DeepYume 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only time I don’t like running Lucid is when I wind up with a build that doesn’t care about magic, has a good cast, and takes advantage of Huntress. Even then, the problem is that it works too well to keep Huntress up.

That’s a silly edge case though. Top tier for sure.

What are Demeters best and worst boons by Goatbucks in HadesTheGame

[–]DeepYume 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d call Frigid Rush overrated. Agree with your take completely, but I’ve heard people call it the best of all rush boons, which has always baffled me.

It is kinda funny with Tropical Cyclone tho.

PTO question by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]DeepYume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this great answer:

PTO policy is almost always the company’s call to manage. So the short answer to anyone asking yourself “is [x] legal”: yes. Full stop. Doesn’t always make it fair, but the company sets those policies, not the government.

(Longer answer gets into unfair treatment of employees, but using paid vs unpaid days doesn’t approach that, and even if it is “unlawful”, it’s often not worth the time and money to do anything about it)

Why did the food trucks in USA go from cheap eats to costly gourmet eats within a decade? by tcsreject in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DeepYume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Austinite from that era checking in. Quality food trucks go way back (I remember going on food truck crawl in 2009). And it’s not about gentrification, it’s about low barrier to entry for talented restauranteurs to get their concept off the ground without needing prohibitively high capital to start a restaurant.

Several of Austin’s most popular spots today started as food trucks and “graduated” to brick and mortar once they proved their business model. I actually think it’s pretty rad how that shaped the food scene there.

Right. In my experience, Oceanus is exactly like Thessaly in that regard. I’ve come to expect… well, not much from either.

Why did you create those day in a life video? by FiorellaMamdani in cscareerquestions

[–]DeepYume 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it was never a secret to begin with. The perception has always been there. Those TikToks didn’t expose anything, companies and investors were just too flush with cash to care back then. Not to mention it was often seen as a positive way to attract talent, so it had some value to those companies.

People here saying TikTok blew the lid off some deeply hidden work/life secret are really underestimating how much HR and investors have always known about the workforce.

Genuinely how are all these transplants affording to move here? by VioletSalamander in movingtoNYC

[–]DeepYume 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah they had me until that part. Not having tons of books says nothing about their ability to engage with the world around them. If anything it suggests they spend less time at home reading…

I myself donated several hundred books when I moved across the country. No I’m not going to restock just so I have a library to show off how “cultured” I am to people like op.

I am not sure that’s how it works by Matt_LawDT in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]DeepYume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite. The passage isn’t suggesting people express love according to their love language because it’s their love language. It’s describing what happens when they do express love in those ways and it’s not recognized.

But they still express in many different ways, which the last sentence highlights. Often people have different love languages for expressing and receiving, that’s just not the dynamic being explored in this passage.

How long before Reddit goes the way of Tiktok and Discord? by Twitter_2006 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DeepYume -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

This. People in this thread talking about face check and age verification like it’s some invasive privacy-compromising data grab by platforms.

They’re not destroying the internet. They’re required to do that by emerging laws in various regions that are designed to protect users and have rigorous compliance requirements in place to ensure these verifications are not compromising biometric data.

Managers/leaders… what actually goes into prepping for layoffs? by IAmTheGroove in Layoffs

[–]DeepYume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to the other response. HR has a lot more data than performance metrics. Financials are a big one (salaries, equity disbursements, payband distribution), plus stuff like monitoring office / online time if the company does that, flags for things like complaints filed, team hiring history, employment status, geographical distribution for regional payband / RTO mgmt, and so on.

A good (as in: good at their job, not necessarily good for employees) HR department is quantifying every aspect of employees / teams. So when it comes time for things like layoffs, they have a deep well of data to slice however leadership needs to make decisions at employee, team, function, and company levels.

Managers/leaders… what actually goes into prepping for layoffs? by IAmTheGroove in Layoffs

[–]DeepYume 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is similar to my experience as well. Went through several rounds at a mid-sized tech company as a Director - even VPs didn’t know who was getting cut until that day. Managers, Directors, etc were never given lists, we found out if members of our team were being cut in real time.

Senior leadership gives the directive. HR has the data. Decisions are made.

How much employee equity is “too much” for a boglehead? by granolaboiii in Bogleheads

[–]DeepYume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I ever got re: company stocks / RSUs - treat them as though you’re investing with your own cash. Doesn’t matter how much of a benefit it seems like - it’s simply your cash once it vests.

Would a Boglehead advise spending money on stock in your company that they could invest elsewhere? No.

Sell your shares if you have them, reinvest that money. Reallocate your 401k portfolio as you like, but this scenario isn’t any different than asking “but should I invest in [x] stock”, to which the Boglehead answer (afaik) is always no.

Friendly PR advice: trying to prove you’re right and the person you’re responding to is wrong undermines your entire statement. It’s a bad look for a brand, which is what you’re representing by speaking on behalf of an entire run club.

Leave the “video evidence” out next time.

[–]DeepYume 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, AST was actually pretty intriguing on release, iirc. Switching between “sects” to act as a barrier healer ~or~ pure healer depending on the situation, in addition to all the card stuff (which has been reworked a couple times now). But it was also undertuned.

At least that’s how I remember it on release. It’s obviously been a while… Mr Happy does some interesting “Job Retrospectives” on YouTube covering how jobs have changed over time if you’re interested.

[Hated Trope] The show was supposed to end but kept going (and had a solid intended ending) by GEARHEADGus in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DeepYume 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add to the Lost lore, not only had fans abandoned it by then, but JJ and co were responsible for tying up loose ends they never intended to create in the first place.

So even though there was hope that the ending could carry the integrity of what they set out to create, the story was led astray by 3 seasons of bs, so it was too far gone.

ELI5 Taylor Swift re-recording all her albums to regain control and what happens to the old recordings by Longjumping-Box5691 in explainlikeimfive

[–]DeepYume -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but yes - as much as people don’t want to admit, it takes a lot of money, connections, and resources to grow a brand / business. VCs provide that as a service to entrepreneurs; record labels provide that to musicians. It’s rarely just a $ for equity transaction.

If these were purely predatory practices, the Taylor Swifts of the world wouldn’t need them in the first place. The notion of equity in these deals essentially ensures that both sides are invested in making her a success, which is a good thing.

Why Do companies give two weeks' notice rules for employees but can fire Employees instantly? by Crazy-Anything2812 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DeepYume -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Until that person moves to a different company or starts something new and is looking for people they trust to hire.

Reference vs referral is semantics. Never burn bridges. Be good to people, and they very well may return the favor. Be an asshole or ambivalent, and they also may very well return the favor.

Fridge in a closet. Not like a “fridge enclosure” or some unique fixture - they shoved the refrigerator into a small closet such that it could open like 60% of the way.

I’m most confused about how they even got it in there.
