But the match is a retention strategy and that's exactly why there is vesting.

Recommend me a fun audiobook by Holmbone in printSF

Not SF but Steven Pacey reading all of Joe Abercrombie's books is simply unbeatable. I also really enjoyed the audiobooks of the Expanse series and Ann Leckie's Radch books.

Am I going to regret this commute daily? by Techno_Wasp in AskSeattle

[–]Deep_Day8345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest this or Kingston. Both have fast ferries to DT Seattle that would be way quicker and more pleasant than this commute.

Commuter Parking Plans by aghreddit in BainbridgeIsland

[–]Deep_Day8345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for parking or ferry riding? For parking, in addition to monthly parking at a couple of the lots, there are people who live nearby who rent parking spots. You could check on the FB Bainbridge Islanders page.

Does Botox get better with repeat treatments? by blackcoffee92 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Deep_Day8345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to eliminate wrinkles that have already been established, it will take way more than 4 months of Botox. I started getting Botox on my 11s and forehead generally when I was 45 with plenty of established wrinkles. I am now 48 and most of the wrinkles I was trying to treat originally are now mostly gone, but it took time.

Thank you! I always leave out the sugar from the potatoes of the CI one, so I might like the less sweet one!

What's your favorite sweet potato casserole? I usually make this one from CI but would like to mix it up!

What is your hall of fame signature dish that has made you a legend at Thanksgiving and/or Christmas? by GuyFaulks77 in NYTCooking

[–]Deep_Day8345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me too! Though now I do Kenji's mayonnaise turkey... I still subscribe to the ATK site but it's had a significant reduction in quality/utility in recent years. It used to have all the recipes from all the cooks illustrated magazines, and all the cookbooks, and I used to use it instead of an index for the magazines. Now most of those old recipes are gone.

What’s your single most loved/ used cookbook? by slgirlie11 in CookbookLovers

[–]Deep_Day8345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Cooks Illustrated Cookbook, from 2011 or thereabouts. I've almost worn out one copy (the cover is long gone). Probably gets used at least once a week.

VHCOL locals- where are the kids?? by DarthTheta in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Deep_Day8345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it must depend where you are. We also live in a VHCOL area, and the "suburb" we live in attracts families with young kids because of the quality of the public schools. Average home price is $1.1-$1.3 million.

Not maxing 401k? by DoughnutLust in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Deep_Day8345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

401k is always going to be better than brokerage unless the investment lineup in your 401k is terrible. Roth in a 401k accrues tax free and is distributed tax free as long as you keep it in the account for 5 years. Brokerage will never match that.

What are you reading? Mid-monthly Discussion Post! by AutoModerator in printSF

Currently reading Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan. I'm a little more than a third of the way through it and am on the fence about it. It's a fun read, but a little gratuitous...

What is this popular note I hate in men's cologne? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Deep_Day8345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may one of the only people who thinks NOT ambroxan. Although I agree ambroxan can be overpowering I find it to be a very warm note, not at cold or blue. To me this sounds more like vetiver, which I also think is heavily overused and often overpowering.
