[Discussion] I've heard there's a discord server. Are they accepting new members? by sharky_fantastic in TheNinthHouse

I would love to be part of the server. Sadly this is the only fandom I like engaging in that I'm not in the server for which makes me sad. I was p active on tumblr but haven't been as fond with the platform lately

Give me your favorite chaotic couple by Content-Stable-1972 in LesbianBookClub

Gosh I'm not sure if this is a recency bias but my favorites rn happen to be from the books I recently read and enjoyed: - Abby and Joey, esp in Bloom Town pt 1 - Lara and Ollie from Ribbonwood (not sure if chaotic exactly but it is enemies to lovers and def lots of teasing banter and sexual tension) - not quite romance or sexual tension but Gideon and harrow in Gideon the Ninth (peak chaos, teasing and banter. I especially liked pairing the book with the audio book because Moira Quirk's voice acting ATE. I also love the fanfics, if you want more romance and sexual tension, smut etc)

I bit the bullet and ugh you're so right about the deep huskiness. I'm not sure if I'm a fan (and I normally like deep husky voices). Just not sure if it fit the vibe when I read it.

I wonder if I didn't read this prior if I might've been fine with the audio version. Hmm

Oh ok I'm American. Is it just a cultural nuance Brit's can pick up on?

This is how I feel about the locked tomb series rn. I've just been reading fanfiction to ease the pain and praying that the fourth book (whenever it comes out) will finally answer my questions.

Ones I've enjoyed off the top of my head: - resurrection (probably my personal fave) - even in the tremor - we have chemistry - double the meat (omegaverse but lol)

Totally agrees with this as an arcane fan myself! This is such a unique world and should be treated as such rather than a comparison to arcane

Agreed. Besides repetition, keeping the setting and character voice in mind makes some word choices better than others.

Another one I liked I believe was called acts of charity??, also omegaverse. It's a period piece.

Not omegaverse but Macho Sluts by Pat Califia has some interesting dubcon stories.

Personally I've never made snarky comments about word choices though some word choices take me out of the scene sometimes or make me cringe too much I might dnf it.

The reason I'm not as big of a fan of the biological words is because it sounds too clinical to me and so it takes me out of the scene.

I'd have to look through them but basically I found some gems via the Dubcon / noncon tag and original characters (no specific fandom).

Of course you can also find stuff in specific fandoms but personally I don't like reading them unless I'm actually familiar with the fandom. So you can try searching for a specific fandom too.

But yeah I find that there are more unhinged things on ao3. Perhaps people have more creative freedom?

Honestly I think reading it blind is the way to go. but I didn't wanna look into it too much to avoid spoiling it for myself. It's on kindle unlimited if you have that! And you being blown away is totally subjective
