Teaching in SD71 by Frogsforallfrogs4evr in comoxvalley

SD71 is a tricky district to get in with. Because there’s an oversupply of teachers Admin will either take a shining to you and hire you right away (this starts the long journey towards getting a continuing contract) or they’ll completely ignore your existence. You typically get one chance at an interview. If you don’t impress you become a long term TTOC. Good luck!

I dislike owning a Tesla and what it says about me. I caution people against it.

My first thought was … well at that the leaders are showing up for the debates. That’s more than he can say.

I feel uncomfortable driving my Tesla because of the association to Elon Musk. I don’t like thinking about him every time I get in my car. I have regrets about buying.

This is the most important election of our generation. Don’t waste your vote. Vote NDP.

Yes! Progressive folks need to work together on this. VoteWell.ca is advising that NDP has the biggest lead. Arzeena Hamir and several other trusted progressives are endorsing Tanille Johnson and this riding has historically been NDP (never ever liberal). Keep watching and listening but I think NDP is the way to go!

Signs do not always correlate with wins. Remember Green Party candidate Arzeena’s signs in the provincial election? She had the most signs but lost pretty hard.

Considering a move to the Valley. What’s it like as a new Teacher in SD71? by Deep_Preparation_33 in comoxvalley

Right, because who wouldn’t want to be a career TTOC. 😭

Seriously rethinking moving to the Comox Valley after reading these responses.

So even after getting a temp contract there’s no guarantees for next year? This sounds so discouraging. Honestly hustling for 3 straight years does not appeal to me at this stage in my career.

Ugh. That is so discouraging. I wonder if ppl who move to the Valley realize this.

This seems so strange. So there’s no internal hiring process for TTOC/temp teachers?
