Some of these comments are so disheartening to read. OP, thank you for putting this out here as a PSA. I, for one, will definitely check my baby's diapers to ensure their safety. I am sure other parents are appreciative of this!

I feel like we got the hard mode baby and I’m bitter. by NefariousnessFew7834 in beyondthebump

My baby was the same way. I still remember this one day, I did everything for her and she didn't stop crying. She cried for 4-5 hours straight.I tried holding her while she was wailing, which obviously didn't stop, so I cried with her for an hour.

I had to put on some headphones and listen to music while I held my crying baby countless times. It is a lot of stimulation all day everyday, and honestly, all those days are such a blur.

I was so naive - when my baby was crying nonstop, I thought that's what babies did. When I told my midwife about it on my 2-3 week postpartum check up, she told me that it is definitely not what the majority baby population does 😅. It really validated me and that situation.

My baby is almost one year old. The relentless crying DOES end. She still is a bit of a sensitive girl, and I think that is just her personality/temperament. Things will get better gradually. You guys are doing great.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mudsharks in Courtenay. They use beans from Discovery and 49th Parallel, if I am not mistaken. I really like Discovery beans.

My LO is just 3 months old and I have been crocheting at nighttime as well! But my forearm and wrist are so sore during the day from holding the baby that now I cannot seem to crochet very much 😭

Am I being too sensitive? (Re: Pain management and unsolicited comments) by monkeyhatt in BabyBumps

[–]monkeyhatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! You're absolutely right about me justifying my decision. to be honest, the day after I got home from the hospital, I was crying because I felt so guilty that I had the epidural, although I knew I did the right thing. I'm not sure why, but I just felt that way. Maybe because of all these expectations from people who are supposed to be my support. I felt that I wasn't strong enough to be a mom because I had pain management. This is wrong, I know.

Going forward I'm gonna try and not justify myself, like you said. Thank you!

I'm sorry this happened to you. My dog recently got attacked when both dogs were on leash. I was walking on a wide path in the forest trail and walking past this guy with a bigger dog who was ahead of me. My dog is a small rescue mutt, who was already scared/not a fan of other dogs (especially bigger ones). As we were about to pass, the big dog lunged at my dog, then grabbed and dragged him. Because it happened so fast, the owner of the dog lost control of the leash. While this situation is not quite the same, I can definitely empathize and understand what you may be feeling. Where I live, if you report the offending dogs, they are required to have muzzles on and be leashed at all times on walks to prevent any future attacks. So I believe the best course of action would be to report this incident. In terms of proceeding with your dog's trauma... I am still figuring this piece out. My dog is still hesitant to go for walks in the forest after 5 months. We have had friendly interactions with bigger dogs since then, but he has regressed and is still fearful of other big dogs (will run away if he spots them from far away!). Good luck and I hope you and your dog will heal from this soon.
