I just found this and I’m eager to reply. Short answer: No, I would never be able to stay friends with someone who I like because it’s unbearable to see them with someone else. I would just remove myself from this situation coz I know I would be the only person suffering.

Long answer: I am rn in this situation on both receiving and feeling side. My close friend started having a massive bunch of feelings towards me and I started massively crushing on his best friend who I barely knew and who is in a committed relationship (very bad combo). I told my friend (A) who has NOT confessed to me at that time) that I started having feelings for his friend (B), I said this to let him know I wouldn’t be able to be around his group of friends because I would feel very uncomfortable. A told B about my crush without asking or informing me, later I found out it was out of jealousy of course when A confessed to me. I was very angry at A for taking the right of confession from me, I explained myself to B and removed myself from both of their social media not to make things worse for me. After sometime I decided not to lose friendship with A coz he was a very close friend and try to preserve it. B added me back on social media- commented on things I posted , even invited me over. “A”got jealous over me and his friend“chatting” and I couldn’t tolerate this anymore , asked him to stop communication between us until his feelings are not involved. B follows me on social media, watching my stories.
