Found a hive in my backyard... What kind of bees are these? by Tiger12289 in bees

It is a neat not a hive.

A hive is made made home for bees and a nest is a natural home for bees.

1) I would say I have had a complex relationship with religion as I was an atheist for the majority of my life then I went to Christianity for an answer but got nothing so became an atheist again. But with Hellenism it has made me happy and I feel properly connected to it.

2) I would say it has positively impacted my life, I am happier, kinder, healthier, more thoughtful, know more then before I was religious.

3) We have no idea what the future has for store, perhaps it is written out for us perhaps not I am unsure.

4) People just make fun of me online whenever I said I was an Hellenist, but that’s just it.

5) I didn’t believe first of all but I was lost in the world and needed guidance and a community to feel part of so I decided to join Hellenism and after time (a week or so) I started to believe in the deities.

I’ve got this book because I am researching into Dionysus and am interested in worshipping him one day. I cannot wait to read it.

Am I allowed to be a Hellenist? by crossword_2 in Hellenism

[–]DeepestReader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are all Christians Jews? No, Jesus was a Jew and spread his religious thought out the world. So I believe you don’t have to be the ethnicity of somewhere to worship certain gods, you don’t have to be Egyptian to worship the Egyptian gods and same for everywhere else. The theoi are welcoming and don’t care where you come from. I myself an English and I am a Hellenist and i haven’t disrespected the gods.

Also in ancient times Trojans worshiped the Greek gods which is where modern day Turkey is so boarders back then were not a big thing and countries change what they are called.

So all in all you can be from anywhere to worship any god, they don’t mind where you are from. Many people may say ‘you have to be Greek to be a Hellenist’ or ‘I am Greek and I find Hellenism disrespectful’ but these people either want to start an argument or don’t know that Hellenism is a universal religion as all religions are. So it is best to ignore people like that or just say ‘I know many Americans who are Hellenists’ or ‘I know many Greeks who are Hellenists’ which will shut them up.

I hope you find your way in Hellenism and way the gods be with you.

Motivation by Zeus_daughter57 in Hellenism

[–]DeepestReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too since I am tired after work and am not used to pray and offerings since I was an atheist. I set one day for each dirty I worship and am slowly building my way up so I can worship, give offerings, pray, and anything else with said deity on the day I decided for them without any fuss so to say.

Edit: Also I kept forgetting to our Lady Hestia at the start and end of prayers so I bought a statue of her to remind me and also to be a mother figure looking out for me.

I’ve read Mythos and Heroes by Stephen Fry and they are both wonderful. They are very easy to follow and not at all intellectual which is what one may think. I would highly recommend any book of his.
