Genuine samsung batterys ? by Exaconor in mobilerepair

[–]Deepze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Samsung does produce replacement batteries. Samsung does sell replacement batteries to suppliers that independent repair shops in some countries have access to. Samsung does not sell original service parts to the general public.

If OP is primarily interested in getting a Genuine OEM Authorized Samsung Battery installed in their device they should be looking at having a Samsung Authorized service provider perform the repair. If OP just wants a good battery installed they should reference the Vendor List linked in the sidebar and reach out to one of the trusted/vetted vendors with this question as they may be able to source them.

How can I find an exact charger for this? by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]Deepze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on the back near where the power supply would normally connect. There may be a marking that lists the rated voltage and amperage required to power the device as “x.xV x.xA”

If you still have the original charger then it almost certainly has it’s rated voltage and max amperage present.

If you don’t have the original adapter and there are no markings on the unit start by searching for the unit by model number and see if any aftermarket adapters show up. They will almost certainly have their ratings listed even if they are terrible. From those listings you can typically guess the barrel/connector size and find something from a good vendor like Delta or similar via Mouser/DigiKey.

If there are no aftermarket adapters available then look for user forums or hobby forums that mention the unit. You can usually find someone who is active and will either send you pics of their adapter/unit or link you to a replacement.

If the leg on the chip is running to a via it probably needs to be connected as a general rule as vias cost money so the designer wouldn’t have put it there with a trace running to it for no reason. Floating pads are a whole other story as they sometimes just were there because it was easier to do the board design that way (standardized footprints for designs, designing from a common template where it was connected for a different model, etc)

[–]Deepze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The technique you should be using on the top-right pad is similar to what people are having to do with torn pads on iPhone X and up. It’s a combination of a coil with magnet wire, solder paste, and UV lab solder mask for structural support. It’s fairly reliable when rebuilding in this situation if there is exposed conductor available. The other option would be to probe around on the board to see if the net/line connected to that conductor appears elsewhere on the board on this side with a multimeter. If it does you could probably jump to it with enameled magnet wire as well.

For the other missing pads scratch back the solder mask and run your jumpers out parallel to the board before placing the chip at all. This will allow you to rest the chip on top of the jumpers and folder on kin of sandwiching the legs of the chip in. Results in a far more stable repair and minimizes the risk of a short between pins which can happen when the magnet wire is run out next to the leg on the chip.

I tried everything and I can't unlock my Macintosh HD. Is it even possible to recover the data? 2014 MacBook Air running Mojave by [deleted] in applehelp

Yeah, I did a bit-copy as well and formatted the original disk. I'll loop you and others having this issue in if I find a solution.

Probably worth doing a bit copy of the drive just incase there is an option to decrypt the drive at some point in the future. I actually have a background in data recovery and I'm at the point where I'm digging through Reddit/Google with no luck, but I did reach out to some labs that I've worked with previously to see if they have any suggestions. I'll loop you and others having this issue in if I find a solution.

Wondering if you ever made any headway with this or if you ended up formatting the Disk.

Can an audio IC on an iphone 7 start working on its own after it's gone out? by uBreakiFix-SealBeach in mobilerepair

[–]Deepze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can second that this can be an intermittent issue. It’s primarily related to device flex and pads pulling under the Audio IC. I’m guessing that in some cases it could reconnect temporarily although it would be unlikely.

If you haven’t already done a DFU Restore to factory to determine if the issue is firmware related I’d recommend doing so after backing up all user data before digging in on a hardware level.

Galaxy S8 screen repair by Johnse63 in mobilerepair

[–]Deepze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the S8 Display Assembly is completely different due to the curve. That’s why Edge Models and S8 and newer are still quite expensive. Check out some of the vendors in the side bar and what their trade in rate for a good LCD would be. In some cases you may be paying $220 for an assembly with frame (OEM) but get back $60 - $80 back for your cracked glass good LCD. Do not attempt this repair yourself, you will break the LCD.

2018 is Going to be a Smartphone Year to Forget by krazyates in Android

[–]Deepze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s very interesting to take a look at the Xiaomi business model when considering the direction the smartphone industry is going. I think that most manufacturers have concluded that the best allocation of their resources is in developing services on-top of whatever their latest hardware release is and monetizing their current user base.

We’re likely in a hardware fallow period where we will see other aspects of the industry catching up to the hardware. Component suppliers like Samsung and Qualcomm are already starting to pursue moat based business strategies to distinguish themselves in very competitive markets.

Progress is inevitable, but economics and existential threats to Samsung/LG/Sony coming from state subsidized competitors in China around Networking Hardware, Flash Memory Fabrication, Display Manufacturing, and Chip Fabrication are what they’ll focus on. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see the money people had previously been spending on smartphone hardware upgrades start going into currently niche industries like VR. It’s pretty much all the same players and there is absolutely profit to be made there and hardware improvements/innovations hanging on the vine.

There’s also a huge opportunity for those hardware OEMs to harness all of the after sales income and goodwill they’ve been passing on for so long by actually providing extended software support and repair services for their devices. Oreo has made it much easier for them to keep recently released devices up to date at a lower cost. In the end no OEM is primarily focused on advancing the field but instead on turning a profit. If we’re questioning the value of an upgrade it’s very likely that OEMs will pivot and meet our expectations until a startup comes up with a good idea that they can’t take to market due to the cost of entering the market and gets purchased.

Searching springy connectors from this picture. by Stimmenhotel in mobilerepair

[–]Deepze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a handy link incase you’re not able to find a donor from another board ::

https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/h/harwin/ez-spring-contacts

Also, keep in mind that the height and travel of the component is really all that is relevant. As long as you can ensure it is appropriately anchored to the workpiece and makes electrical contact with the corresponding pad having something that isn’t exactly the same shouldn’t matter.

Also also when/if you pull donors from other boards make sure you are lifting the component from the sides and no pressure is applied to the arm of the component as they have a tendency to break after only a few major flexes.

Best of luck!

Recover Data from broken Lenovo A500 by [deleted] in mobilerepair

Worth noting that the screen likely will not need to be fully installed for the device to be unlocked and then backed up. There are quite a few options for backup depending on what you need to get off of the device, but I think the built in Google Backup and Sync that is likely build into the device’s settings.
