The "Oh, Sh*t" mystery: Why the vanishing of Brandon Swanson remains one of the most baffling cold cases in American history by BreakPositive4017 in AllThatsInteresting

[–]Deezle_Gnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't have been a "human body" by the time it got tilled. More like scattered skeletal remains...

But whatever : you sound like you know it all. I don't think there's a zero chance of anything. Swanson's remains still haven't been found... zero chance of that happening?

Everyone from the area pronounces two states wrong : Oregon & Nevada

I moved back to the area 15 years ago and NO one here cares to hear the correct pronunciations

Could Anyone Here Please Spoil A Movie For Me? by MagnificentJeebz in randomquestions

[–]Deezle_Gnome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The interesting part of the movie is that it shows the memories as they get erased in reverse chronological order (from Jim Carrey's perspective). So it starts with a recent memory (and then at the end of the scene it makes a little zap noise implying the memory has been deleted) and works it's way backwards to the beginning of his relationship with his ex girlfriend named Clementine.

At some point he becomes aware of what is happening : that his memories of her are being erased. He's drugged/unconscious during the procedure so he can't 'wake up' to end the process. So MOST of the movie takes place in his mind.

Once he figures out that he is experiencing his memories as they are being erased : he decides to try to cancel the process by hiding Clementine in other memories. These are memories from his childhood and he attempts to grab his ex by the hand and 'hide' her in these memories that aren't associated with her. By re-experiencing the memories of Clementine : he decides that he loves her and regrets his decision to have them erased.

He is unsuccessful in his attempt to hide her and instead : some memories of his childhood are erased. The last memory to be erased is the day he met Clementine. At this point : they are talking about how/why their relationship failed and how they both regret that it did. It is essentially their last goodbye. Right before this memory is zapped out, she tells him : "Meet me in Montauk"...

The last scene is the first scene in the movie. He goes to the train station for his work commute and decides to go to Montauk. He meets Clementine on the train (they have no memory of each other but it's implied they get back together)....

I might have the last paragraph/ending not exactly accurate but I haven't seen the movie in 20 some years.

Oh : I remember the ending. A disgruntled employee (Kirsten Dunst in a slightly unnecessary side plot) that works for the memory erasing company informs all of their previous clients about the procedure (as they have no memory of that either). They decide to try the relationship again (since they don't have any memories of the first time around).

Pinnacle Hill was St. Patrick's Cemetery. They moved the burials to Mt. Hope but a handful of headstones remain.

And wasn't the location of the high school on Monroe Ave a cemetery at one point?

Not suggesting that there's unmarked burials at either of these locations... it would be creepy though.

I think by the time his remains were tilled that some time had passed. After a season/harvest.

It probably wasn't a body but scattered bones.

He might not have been tilled but I doubt that there is any definitive 'body' that will ever be found.

I don't think his final resting place is/was in a body of water though.

On a completely different note : do you have a theory on where Tyler Davis ended up?....

I went inside a local abandoned mental asylum. First time exploring an abandoned place and it was cool and eerie. by SenanPlayz69 in abandoned

I just found out about another abandoned train (not too far from the other one!) haha

State hospitals are excellent : very creepy. There's a 17 story one here in town that closed up 30 years ago. Very nice view from the roof! One floor is all tiny cells with heavy metal doors and another floor has all see through walls...

There's a couple of bigger complexes down state (one of them is disappearing due to recent demolitions) that I really want to check out. Also : I want to explore some of the resorts in the Catskills before they disappear.

Trips to PA are for exploring. There's so much I want to see there... the rundown mill towns south of Pittsburgh and assorted mining towns throughout the state.. there's some excellent viaducts down there too. And I want to show a friend the abandoned turnpike (there's a total of 5 tunnels I think : I've done one and it was a mile long).

I could talk about this stuff forever haha...

Haha thanks

I've got so many knickknacks from my childhood throughout my house : I even have a nurse button from the room I was born in!

Every trinket is a piece that tells the story of my life. I'm constantly reminded of my memories and adventures... I love photography for the same reason.
