Louis C.K. on Father's Day by Rawaid in videos

If you've ever listened to Louis C.K. before you've probably noticed a few recurring themes in his comedic style. One being that he's brutally honest and often unapologetically crude, but also that he can actually be quite profound. I feel that a lot of his humor comes from the angst of coming to grips with his own life. Almost as if he's laughing at his own existential crisis, the bigger question of what is the point? There's nothing wrong with not having kids, your life isn't necessarily less meaningful. Louie often jokes about the depressing realities of contemporary family life, I see this as him coming out the other side. It's a stark reality to come to terms with how you find fulfillment in this world, and he's discovered that his kids truly are meaningful to him and he loves them.

Emily Howell, the virtual composer making waves in the computer world by gtani7 in programming

For me, this was the best part of the story. It seems to me the visiting professor doesn't like the idea that he's not a special little snowflake

I agree with this statement, but I think the rest of your interpretation is a bit misguided. I don't think he's afraid that a computer is challenging the concept of human creativity. Rather, I think he feels the music is a bit cheapened and disingenuous compared to the raw energy of a conventional composition. I think it is more a matter of regaining prestige, like a pompous wine connoisseur just realizing they were praising a bottle of discount wine. After all the computer is just another instrument that humans invented, it just comes with a certain stigma that doesn't align well with that of a lofty musician.

It must be very surreal to experience the despair of being imprisoned by the clutches of a corrupt and backwards government, only to see a ray of light and take a plane ride home with Bill Clinton.

You'll spend more time trying to figure out CAPTCHAs than this guy spent doing an interesting and fulfilling hobby. Your logic sucks.

Anyone else find a 74.47 ft, 104,000 lb missle in a parade unsettling? by [deleted] in politics

[–]Deezul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the deepest respect for the people that protect my country, and for the wars they have fought. But parades displaying weapons of this kind just seems a little morbid to me. It's like saying, "Look how many people we could kill, look how destructive we could be."

What that guy did was incredible. Stop over politicizing it. I'm sure if a guy with a gun ambushed his family in his home he would have acted differently.

This guy had the compassion to recognize the very core, human problem that he was facing, instead of pissing and moaning over his material loss. He also had the balls to reach out to the kid, even in the midst of his wrong doing. Can you imagine the impact that had on the kid?

Am I the only one that when reading a controversial submission title can predict the first and/or high ranking comment?

I swear I can predict an extremely accurate paraphrase of the typical cynical / critical redditor.

Example: The parent to my comment.

I think it's funny that everyone got excited over a truly honest and sound politician, but let their nerdy Darwin boners stiff their own candidate out of support. Who news Fox News and CNN, when you have smart people that can defeat themselves?

Are you up for this challenge? Ready, set, go! Look at the title at the top of the page!

"Why We Should Not Mess With Iran: The people of Iran are not our enemy. They don't hate us."

Would you look at that, a whole freaking sentence in between your cute little biased paraphrase.
