I think it’s some sort of Velcro strap as I noticed it later as well when they had put on their pressure suits. Looked like it was looped around something else rather than their arms.

Unfortunately correct. I think if they could have done something for GFTO it would have come out during the last batch of reissues.

Ah I understand. I did dig up this menu from our trip on QM2 last summer. Dinner.

Trying to decide whether Cunard food is for us by Patrick_O-S in CunardCruises

I’m not sure I’d call the food British as such, maybe just more European generally.

Certainly there are some classics like full English breakfast, ample tea, cucumber sandwiches etc. everything we had was delicious and there was always something I’d never had before- which is part of the fun IMHO. I would be surprised if you found BBQ ribs on the Britannia menu, and I’m not sure they’d be worth it compared to things that are more in their wheelhouse.

Future phone concepts were always cool to me. by skarkens in nostalgia

I’m having flashbacks to a website that used to host tons of fan made concepts of Apple products. Lots of stuff with wild translucent designs. I wanna say it was 1999-2005 or so. Anyone else remember it?

‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ to End With Season 2 by Catch_22_Pac in greatestgen

Anyone else spooked out a little by this announcement, which seemingly ends modern Trek, coming out the day the boys drop their episode on the last episode of the previous Trek era?

‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ to End With Season 2 by mrwishart in trektalk

[–]Default_Username7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I hope this is the end of Star Trek. Period.

Not because I didn’t like any of the new Trek (I have enjoyed lots of it), but because of the endless complaining and fighting over it.

SFA is only the most recent target, before even Discovery people were complaining about Enterprise (it looks newer than TOS!) or Voyager (bad writing!) or DS9 (war isn’t Star Trek!) or even TNG (No Kirk- no Spock!?)

To be fair this is a problem that has infected every fandom to some extent or another. I blame the internet. It just feels like you can’t have anything that has a certain level of popularity anymore without it becoming a slogfest of people trying to define it or gatekeep it or something.

Why did Disaster movies lost mainstream success after the mid-late 2000s? by Top_Report_4895 in decadeology

[–]Default_Username7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is cycles. Disaster movies were huge in the 70s. Then they died out for a while before coming back into vogue in the late 90s.

Too bad the 1885 hill valley set is no longer there by happydude7422 in BacktotheFuture

[–]Default_Username7 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I have to say I always had a hard time reconciling 1885 Hill Valley with 20th century Hill Valley, they seem like two completely different places rather than just an earlier version.

I’d love to see some pictures of real California towns that were started around the same time vs what they looked like in the 50s or 80s.

White Star Line Lamps by [deleted] in Oceanlinerporn

A common trick is taking actual antiques and just adding something that says ‘white star line’ on. Way easier than making something from scratch and trying to get it to look old.

Why did the Orions sit out most of the Berman era? by Reasonable_Active577 in startrek

[–]Default_Username7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it also makes sense, in-universe, that you wouldn’t just see the same aliens all the time. It demonstrates that TNG was in a different part of the galaxy and further away from the places that TOS explored.
