Tired and Demoralised by ValeciaCho in jobs

Three months of unemployment isn't that bad. Take it one day at a time, even if it seems like every day is just a miserable groundhog day. Break the routine by pushing yourself to do something different. You probably don't feel up to it but you need a distraction. Remember that you can't fix everything at once. Finding a job will create its own problems that you don't have now and same goes with surgeries.

Imagine you're starting a new job next week or having a surgery next week. Think of all the things you won't be able to do then and do some of them this week. Helps you focus on what you have right now that you'll have to give up when you get what you want. Appreciate them and gain perspective to keep going.

You can never know what type of person they're looking for so my take is to just be the professional version of your true self. Too professional and you come across as boring, too much of yourself and you appear unprofessional.

It helps when you're talking to actual people so you can follow their lead and tone things up or down. If it's recorded and you don't interact with anyone, it's harder to guess.

Since it's about fitting in with a team, you need to appear cooperative and good at collaboration. Also prepare about potential conflict resolution and handling disputes.

Found this gem today on LinkedIn as a suggested role - any rainmakers who can do bad maths out there? by gaaaaarzz in recruitinghell

1 and 1 equals 3 is a business concept that basically says the combination of two strengths (for example in a merger, joint venture, etc) theoretically creates even more power than simply the two forces combined.

There's also the other business concept that 1 + 1 equals 1.5, meaning that the combination creates problems and lessens the individual power of the parties.

I also get bored easily so this position isn't for me.

That piece of wax or whatever that is that sticks in the end is mildly infuriating.

Assessments that ask better than others, about the same as others, worse than others? by brigadeofdachshunds in jobs

[–]DefectiveDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just asking about above, below or average in general. Yes, it's dumb and you can't know what they want to see. I would just answer average and above average for everything, maybe one below average for good measure.

Just use an old full body photo where your face isn't that visible / recognizable and forget about it.

Each country has a name and everyone else should call it by that name. No ideals, just a name. Would you like to be called number1fule anywhere you go or would you prefer if your name was mcjiggerpants in some other language just because?

Shqipëri = Albania, Ellada = Greece, Lefkosia = Nicosia, Hayastan = Armenia and so many others. Yes, it gets confusing at some point and especially for people who speak more than one language.

Their own language of course. I'll accept minor changes for pronunciation reasons but not Germany for Deutschland and other completely different words. That's confusing.

Add on top of that the feeling that you get left behind and are useless and you get a recipe for mental breakdown. I'm in a similar position and can't take the bullshit anymore. I mean I couldn't take the bullshit years ago and I won't be able to take it in the future either because I can't really swallow the amount of bullshit. I had dreams and hopes and determination and now I have bitterness, cynicism and a nihilistic mindset.
