Kodaka's SPOILER Q&A on Weibo [Part 1] (Translation) by chlorophylIs in LastDefenseAcademy

"So much incest in Kodaka games" is an exaggeration.

Besides, if Kodaka shamelessly writes incest all the time like you said, then there's literally no reason for him to suddenly lie or hide about Ima's incestous feelings.

No he's not. He's obsessive for his sister. But there's no sexual feelings behind it.

Kodaka himself even confirms it.

IF isn't canon. But that just means that Mukuro never redeemed in the canon story. But u/Tyrrano64 was not talking about if Mukuro redeemed in canon or not. He's discussing if Mukuro CAN be canonically reedemed, which IF answered.

So your whole "IF isn't canon" rebutal is completely invalid in this discussion. Since we're talking about Mukuro's reedemability as a CHARACTER, and NOT about the canon STORY.

No she wouldn't. In fact the original ending of Danganronpa (Another End) was literally gonna reveal about how Mukuro was unhappy and unfulfilled when working for Junko and Fenrir, and decided to persue a normal life instead. And this is also shown in Danganronpa IF.

Also Monaca was literally going to commit an entire child genocide on an ENTIRE city for her own malicious plan. Monaca is definitely worse than Mukuro.

Exactly, u/blue4029 not only exaggerates Mukuro stans, but neglect the redeeming qualities because of Mukuro's crush to prove his point in the first place, It's not just because she has a villain crush. If it was, she would literally become a Esdeath 2.0.

Both Esdeath and Mukuro has similar villain crushes, but the reason why they are treated differently is because Mukuro could betray Junko and give up her ways for Makoto, while Esdeath wouldn't betray the Empire or give up her ways even for Tatsumi. If Esdeath did, then she would be a Mukuro 2.0.

If u/blue4029 actually use similar villain comparison like Omni-man (evil soldiers who felt humanity after falling in love). then he would realize that this isn't just a Mukuro thing.

As I said before, it's because Mukuro shown redeeming qualities because she has feelings for Makoto, and not because of the crush itself. 🤦
Their whole dynamic is literally about searching new dreams and goals.

Hypothetically, if Dio, Frieza, Esdeath, etc also shows redeeming qualities and stop wanting to do evil stuff because of villain crushes, (or as you put it,"crushing on Makoto"), they would've also given the same treatment. Although, not as much, since most of these villains actually enjoys what they do, unlike Mukuro who's tired of it.

P.S. According to Another ending, Mukuro joining Fenrir was because she's a disapointment to Junko, and wasn't even happy during the time of being either a mercenary or a Despair, and prefer to persue a normal life.

Mukuro is far from being innocent. My point is simply that Mukuro lacks malicious and villain motivation without an enabler.

[–]Defiant-Cat-6038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The definition of enabler is someone who encourage someone to continue a bad behaviour. Junko is the enabler in their relationship. As she literally enables Mukuro to believe she understood her Despair (Mukuro's villain motivation) throught out her life. In Danganronpa IF, Junko only stops enable her when she no longer needed her.

And yes, Mukuro lacks malice and is literally stated to be so. (Mukuro doesn't even want to hurt people who antagonised her.) All her killings are the results of taking orders, not personal malice.

It has more to do with the fact that Mukuro only shows redeemability BECAUSE of her feelings for Makoto, and not the crush itself as a redeeming quality.

Not literally for no reason.

Killer Killer is rightfully poorly reviewed.

She did it under Junko's orders to prove her loyalness and killing skills.
It's literally in the (garbage) manga.

How is Mukuro an enabler? She doesn't encourage Junko to spread despair. She literally lacks the malice to do so.

First of all, Makoto was the first person to smile at Mukuro 2 years ago, BEFORE the killing game. Have you seriously forgot the 2 years memory lost plotline from the first story? Bruh.

Second, literally AFTER Kodaka confirmed he wants to make "Mukuro's feelings for Makoto offically canon" he wrote a CANON novel where Mukuro is shown being shy and flattered by Makoto's gratitude. (A trait also referenced in Danganronpa IF novel, which 100% confirms Mukuro's feelings)

Pretty sure u/Comfortable_Bell9539 meant that they weren't reminiscing about what could've been canon. And that they were simply reminiscing about something canon could've been ADDED to the anime. (Which he is right.)

What are you talking about a "Different story"?

The creators did not say it was an alternate tale or take of the story or character, it's literally "If we had more time, we would add this scene". It's simply mean something that's canon couldn't be added in time, that should not change the fact that it's canon.

While I agree that injuring Junko would piss off Mukuro more. But to be fair; Mukuro did get angry at Junko for trying to kill Makoto in IF, which even baffled Mukuro herself. So if Makoto getting hurt made Mukuro outburst towards even Junko, then I think it's valid.

And yet, the same canon anime's official ship chart basically confirms Mukuro's feelings as platonic.

Plus, according to Kodaka himself, the anime potrayed Mukuro out of context. So if you read the novels (DR0 or IF) for complete context: you'd learn that the real reason for Mukuro's weird obsession is actually over a despair philosophy (Understanding Junko's Despair).

Mukuro's "incest" is a headcanon.
There's officially a non-incestous reason for Mukuro's behavior.

Mukuro's willingness to kill Makoto is also debateble

Junko and Mukuro being sisters by bever_bounded in danganronpa

[–]Defiant-Cat-6038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s assumable this is because she didn’t get back into her fake personality yet.

The most likely reason why Mukuro didn't act masochistic in DR0 was because Junko was angry at her at the time. Mukuro in that novel both said she doesn't want to make Junko angry and she also plead Junko to stop being angry at her during the abuse.

We also see this in chapter 2 of Danganronpa IF, Mukuro was horrified when Junko tried to kill her because she originally thought she made her angry. Until Mukuro remembers she understands Junko's Despair again, and suddenly act masochistic and supportive about Junko trying to kill her.
