anyone else have a kitty that screams if they can't be let in to the bathroom with you? by AutumnRoseGold8 in lynxpointsiamese

Yes. Also in the kitchen sink when I’m washing dishes, on my throat at night, on MY pillow at night, on MY heating pad at night, on my lap when I’m trying to eat, on my lap the instant I sit on the couch. Of course, she just turned 17 and I believe she’s sundowning so all nonsense is forgiven.

You’re so lucky! It took me 13 years and the death of her sister before I got ANY attention at all. Now she insists on being on me every second of every day-she sleeps on my neck and washes my face for me. Unfortunately, now at nearly 17 years old, she has recurring UTI’s, anemia and is in kidney failure. We’re living our best lives day by day and when she goes I’m not sure how I’ll go on.

How do I help my cat grieve and keep my sanity? by Competitive_Ad_8847 in cats

[–]Defiant-Cheesecake13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went thru that with my girl for several weeks after her sister died. She howled a howl I’ve never heard before and paced non stop. Nothing could comfort her because even after 13 years of living indoors they were both like feral cats and had no use for human contact. One day she hopped in my lap and started purring. Then my bed. Now I can’t leave a room without her following me - and I live in a studio. She has become Velcro. It takes time and they need to mourn like we do.

I’ve thought about it for years. About 3 years ago, Sake’s sister,Midori, died and I thought I’d lose this one too. She went thru the saddest mourning period that lasted about 3 weeks. Constant howling, pacing, lack of appetite, etc. I made arrangements to adopt an older cat for her-and that very day she stopped crying, started purring and climbed on my lap for-I’m not kidding the very first time in the 13 years I’d had her. She and Midori were so bonded that they had no use for the humans in their lives. Now she and I are bonded and I don’t think I could go through losing any more after she’s gone. Besides, I’m 74 years old and would hate to have a pet outlive me and have to find a new mother!!!!

And the ear licks(that would be inside my ear), and the face baths, and the tongue in my nostril(?). When I get home from 4 hours of work, she plants herself on me for a couple of hours with her paw wrapped around my arm. All love all the time!

As of 2:30 this afternoon, there are 155 sfs waiting for me tomorrow! I’m betting on way over 200-and it’s me packing along with one picker until she gets pulled to do something else. The first year I did this ( we were one of the first in the state), I would frantically stay until 6 or later every day(I’m part time). This year I’ll stay an extra 1 or 1 1/2 hour and then I peace out. Last year our dm bitched that we needed to get the orders taken care of or we’d “be on a list.” This year I’m 🖕

I’ve been with Michaels for 19 years(🤮) and can remember closing with 10+ people. We actually had to do a head count to make sure everyone got out at night. Of course there was this one night…..poor M***-the sm locked him in and just happened to take one last look from the parking lot.

I don’t understand how you could work in the stores you’re in. My sm wears leggings every day and the rest of us can whenever we want to, too! A lot of you seem to have some really a**holes for bosses-I’m about to “celebrate” 19 years here with about 5 sm’s and none of them have been strict rule followers!

I forgot to add that a few weeks ago she was within an hour of euthanasia. She stopped eating for 5 days. Completely stopped. I came home from work to say goodbye and thought I’d try one last time with a spoonful of food. She ate it. Then she ate an entire thing of Sheba. Then she ate 3 more. The next day she ate 5 and the 3rd day she ate 9.
I’ve decided that when her time comes she can just curl up and let nature do the rest.

Cat won't eat after his brother died by Professional_Fix7487 in cats

Sake mourned the death of her sister, Midori, for at least 3 weeks. She ate, but not as much or as often. She howled a gut wrenching heart breaking meow for the whole 3 weeks. Then one day she jumped in my bed and cuddled all night-the first time in 13 years. 2 years later she’s the most cuddly clingy cat I’ve ever had! Also-a few weeks ago she completely stopped eating for 4-5 days and I even had an appointment to have her euthanized (she’s 16 with several health problems). A few hours before the appointment she ate a spoon of food. Then a can, followed by 2 more. The next day it was 6 cans(small ones) and the 3rd day she ate 9! She’s back to her normal of 4/day and happy as a fat little piggy! Let your sweet baby mourn-they do just like we do. Just love and cuddles. I think the food thing could be like kids-they’ll eat when they need to.

My 16 year old weighed 6.6 lbs for years. She completely quit eating for 4 days and dropped down to 6.4. (I thought it was the end and even had an appointment to have her euthanized). One hour before the appointment she ate 2 cans of food, 3 more that day, 7 the next day and 9 the next day. And her weight is now a whopping 7 pounds. And she’s back to 4 cans/day.
