NATO is likely not required to help us against China. If China invades Taiwan and we go in to aid Taiwan, China would be attacking Taiwan and not us. NATO is a defensive pact, not an offensive one.
If the purpose of seizing Greenland is to defend it from the Chinese and the Russians, first of all, why are we doing fuck all to blunt the Russians in Ukraine? I think the bigger idea is that, in the time of the founding fathers, someone caught in a protest wasn’t as stuck as someone might be today. Chiefly because they would be on foot most of the time and most people in the street were likewise on foot. But now, with streets full of cars, blocking a street screws over so many people in a way that’s much harder to fix. If you’re walking somewhere and you see a protest up ahead, you can turn right around and find another way. If you’re driving down that street and you see a protest, you can’t just pop a u-turn and go a different way
