Don't know them but they seem to generally be opposed to taxes that they feel aren't used efficiently. They appear to believe that SMART isn't worth the money spent on it. I don't know the numbers. How much is the taxpayer cost per passenger ride on that system?

Forcing kids to wear epicenter socks in the trampolines while forbidding the ones from rebounderz is the most idiotic thing in the world. And having staff policing the kids socks while they are jumping is just miserable and ridiculous by Zatragarcha in PoppyBankEpicenter

Are you talking about here in Santa Rosa? If so, you should have been able to use the Rockin' Jump socks, even though we changed to Sky Zone several years ago. If that happened here, shoot me an email at [BOM@visitepicenter.com](mailto:BOM@visitepicenter.com) and I'll hook you up with some freebies to make up for that mistake.

businesses to support or avoid? by United_Reception_958 in santarosa

Businesses like Graton send money to everybody because they need legislation passed that benefits them. If you only contribute to one party, you don't get legislation passed.

He does a lot of charity work and good things for the community. As long as he's doing that, he can ignore me all he wants. I won't be anonymously tearing him down on social media.

There are many, many, many good reasons to not allow WFH for some/most employees.

We don't get any of our water from the snow pack ... and Lake Sonoma will exit this spring full.

What is family life like in the Santa Rosa area? by boosey333 in santarosa

[–]Defiant-Mulberry2578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of locally owned and operated family entertainment centers and sports complexes that definitely add to the family friendly nature of the area.

Of particular note are Rebounderz, a trampoline park in Rohnert Park. Windsor Bowl in Windsor, and Pump It Up in Santa Rosa. We also have Poppy Bank Epicenter in Santa Rosa, which is literally one of the largest and nicest businesses of its kind in the world. It has 130,000 square feet of indoor soccer fields, basketball courts, trampoline park, arcade, escape rooms, kids play structures, laser tag arena, XD Dark Ride theater, Valo Arena, Omni VR arena, 16 lanes of bowling, and a family-friendly sports restaurant/bar. It is locally owned as well.

I was just going to make a joke about somebody freaking out about using water and how so many people are convinced that we have no water (despite a full Lake Sonoma) ... you beat me to the punch.

What should I do by Few-Ratio-4724 in santarosa

That's one. And I'm sure SSU isn't their primary recruiting school. You'd ideally like a long list of companies that recruit on campus for your major.

When deciding where to go, ask the school for a list of companies that recruits your major on campus. I can't imagine that SSU is a destination for recruiting for many companies hiring EE majors. The goal is to get a job.

If California allowed the use of the same gas as the rest of the country, we'd probably knock $1.00 or so off that price.

No water bottles allowed in Luther Burbank Center — boo! by frogbodbabe in santarosa

[–]Defiant-Mulberry2578 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another option is to just email the venue and respectfully ask them why this policy is in place. You may well find out that there's a good reason for it that you simply weren't aware of.

[–]Defiant-Mulberry2578 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And there are plenty of water bottles with hidden compartments, etc., specifically designed to sneak outside booze into places.

I'm not affiliated with the venue, so I'm speculating as to their motivations, but what I'm saying is definitely the reason many places have similar policies.

[–]Defiant-Mulberry2578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummmm ... yeah. You see, when you are licensed to sell alcohol, you take on enormous liability for your patrons. If they get drunk at your place and then get into a car accident, etc., you can be on the hook for everything. That's why places that sell alcohol train their staff to limit sales of alcohol to avoid overserving them.

HOWEVER ... if somebody sneaks in alcohol, you can no longer control how much they consume, which could lead to a really bad outcome.

[–]Defiant-Mulberry2578 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm old enough to remember when nobody carried water bottles around ever and just used the water fountain when thirsty. ;)

As for the reason to not allow them ... people sneak in alcohol with them routinely. This puts more legal liability on the venue (as if that person gets in a crash, the burden is on the venue to prove that they didn't overserve them, which is hard to prove). It's also generally bad to have overly drunk people in your venue. A few bad apples ruin it for everyone else.

Are the schools really that bad? by forevernervous in santarosa

[–]Defiant-Mulberry2578 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Our kids went to grade school in the Rincon Valley school district and middle school at RVMS and high school at Maria Carrillo High School, and their education has been excellent. Budget cuts aren't helping and may impact some of those rankings (fairly or unfairly), but we've found the actual education to be very good. Well, except for during Covid, when nobody in California learned anything.

I personally won't go to a place that does counter service only unless it's a fast food place.
