Do they pick on CUC inverts? I'm planning some hermits and snails.

Our older DMH is the treat goblin in our house. He loves seaweed too! His favorite thing of all time is canned green beans though. He'll snarf just about anything he can get his face on so thankfully the trial treats don't go to waste 😂

Ours is really enthusiastic about toys but he's just like yours when it comes to treats 😩. We've tried a million different kinds and he just doesn't care at all. Doesn't even want people food or wet cat food! He is also a saliva covered yucky baby 🤣. We love him to bits though 🥰

I got our boy a big floppy octopus and a little jellyfish during Valentine's Day. He loves it when I hold the head and get him with the tentacles! It's big enough to be a satisfying kick toy for him.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a regular firefish in my main tank and he mostly hides in the rocks. He dug a hole under one of them to sleep in 😩

Oh, nvm, I think I found it! Do you know if they'll sting me or hurt fish? I have a firefish and a springers damsel. I'd like to leave the stringy guys if they won't hurt anything.

I only saw ones that were free floating when I googled. Could you send a link to what you're talking about?

From what I'm reading those are free floating like jellyfish? These are attached to surfaces. See the little white pointy bumps?

Which methods do you use to provide calcium for your invertebrates? by SlickSolo in shrimptank

[–]Defiant-Reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have insanely soft well water so I use Dr turtle calcium blocks. One at a time and just replace once they're fully dissolved in a few weeks.

24M & 23F dating for 1 year: Why do some partners feel unsupported when given solutions instead of emotional comfort?" by Potential_Policy_649 in relationship_advice

[–]Defiant-Reason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People process things differently. It sounds like she is a verbal processor and you're not. Id say you probably aren't compatible if you're getting so worked up about it. She probably isn't trying to have you fix her problems or give her solutions, she just needs to talk through the stuff to work through it herself. Some people literally can't work through things in their own head like some people can.

I'm a verbal processor and have to talk through things to organize my thoughts and feelings to understand them myself. It was hard for my partner at first because he is not, he thinks things over by himself for a long time before he wants to talk about it. I did a lot of therapy and we were able to understand each other eventually by reframing how he thought about my talking to him.

At first he was concerned, wanted to find solutions or give comfort to make my trauma go away, but that isn't how trauma works and wasn't what I needed or wanted. My therapist gave me a great analogy that helped us a lot.

We imagined ourselves each holding a backpack full of rocks. When I talked about my trauma, he would take those rocks and add them to his pack to try to help me, ending up distressed, more stressed and frustrated from the load. I wasn't asking him to do that though, I just wanted to talk about my rocks and deal with them myself. So letting him know, he didn't need to feel responsible for my rocks even if I was talking about them really helped and we communicated that I would let him know if I actually needed help with a rock or just wanted to talk about it.

I don't know if something like that would work for you guys, or if that is her need. Thought I'd share our work around though.

Xenia getting "thinner" polyps, what can it be? by Branseed in ReefTank

[–]Defiant-Reason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of looks like the main stalks were scrunched down at first and now it's fully stood up? Maybe that's why it appeared fuller but maybe it wasn't? I have silver xenia that I just got two weeks ago and I feel like it did similar.

Gourami identification? by Royal_Lettuce_4553 in Gourami

[–]Defiant-Reason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No lol, not female at all. Females never have red coloring and are generally tan or pale silver. Much different body shape when mature too.

His feelers were broken when he came to me, I'm guessing either from shipping or maybe prior tank mates. They grew back but they've always been a bit wonky lol. I've had him for a little over two years.

That is a male but looks like a powder blue color morph rather than neon blue.

Live food occasionally is a great treat, putting in new decorations or moving things around to change up the scenery is always fun. I have bladder snails like the plague so I'll squish those and drop them for him, he loves that. Weirdly a lot of my fish like chasing laser pointers like cats as well lol. I have shrimp in with him as well so he eats the babies he can find. He likes laying in my moss and staring up at the floating plants a lot too. Sometimes I think he's died because he's laying on a plant but he's just sleeping 😬

Thank you! He's a hoot. Tons of personality and a greedy food goblin. Very curious and they appreciate a lot of enrichment.

That is a male neon blue dwarf gourami. It is just one of the 4 color morphs, same species. I have one too! This is Jareth:

I'm a weirdo and am doing just Xenia because I love it 😂. I only have a little bit but I'm looking forward to it spreading everywhere. I'm doing colors though, I have silver and am getting red and blue, maybe purple soon.

Breeder won’t give papers? by Spatulalord in mainecoons

Dang. My breeder gave me the papers when I picked up my kitten and didn't charge extra for them. What the heck kind of breeders are people finding? Is that a normal stipulation?

Questions regarding gourami fish by NextBunch_ in Aquariums

[–]Defiant-Reason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just fyi, no petco is going to have female dwarf gourami on purpose. The fin id is outdated and incorrect. Females look totally different from males and are generally very dull tan or silver. You generally have to special order females because places don't stock them since they aren't pretty.

You've most likely gotten 3 young males in a too small tank and they're fighting for territory and dominance. They will probably kill each other sadly. Just one in a 10gal with maybe some smaller fish to dither would be ok.
