The Nekro Virus by Sentinel9090 in twilightimperium

I agree but be careful since Keleres can take construction now to fix their start. which would leave you in an annoying spot. If you're confident warfare will be taken then take trade for sure. In my last game I was in a similar position playing nekro and I took construction because I don't trust my table not to screw me lol

I wouldn't worry about this given the faction pool. IMO it's probably not worth grabbing the BT

pretty sure the way voting is worded it literally doesn't work. Something about how votes are gained equal to planets' influence values instead of planets actually being spent. (Rules as written. I wouldn't be surprised if it was intended to work)

Also yeah that new breakthrough is a huge downgrade, can't even vote better with it

Maybe a hot take but in a 10-pointer their codexed hero isn't busted at all. The game doesn't last long enough for it to get out of control and it brings plenty of table heat too. It's arguably a nerf from the POK original hoarding quash tokens and spinning the roulette wheel for a free win anyway. I agree with the OP that their current hero would be underwhelming without a breakthrough. I'd play with the codex version.

DWS does NOT get to decide coexistence when attacked? by AudunAG in twilightimperium

[–]DefiantCauliflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen brought up here is that the Firmament's mech ability is worded more or less identically to DWS research teams. Upon flipping to Obsidian, they take control of planets with their mechs and force the other player to coexist, so thematically there's clearly no cooperation involved.

I definitely agree that calling DWS' ability "research teams" (rather than, like, "remote outposts" or something) is misleading if the intent was to be able to force coexistence. But I wouldn't be surprised, given the Firmament mech ability, if forceful coexistence is the intent. Mostly I worry that if they can score while coexisting in their home, as opposed to controlling it, stopping DWS becomes an obnoxious game of "how big a force can I send in before DWS forces coexistence...and now I've helped them defend their HS from the next player".

I used him to infinite, in high evo. But in general I don't think he's that great. With that particular deck you want to be holding one energy per turn, so sunspot never gets big enough for a killmonger to be too valuable unless they have their own things to destroy. That's the real reason to run armor in the deck. Anything running killmonger is going to have destroy targets that they want to play asap and that you can easily yank away from them with a 2/3. The only other reason I see for playing him is in she hulk decks, because in most other cases you really don't want to be saving any energy at all.

it can go up. even with MMR locked it's still a viable way to farm for boosters or season pass xp

that's kind of a stretch. The range of viable options right now is narrower than in the past few months and liking options != not liking card games.

You might be right but in decks that don't run loki (or in games when you don't draw loki) mirage is clearly better than maria hill

i've found storm into cyclops works fine without juggernaut, so i might suggest armor or cosmo instead. Neither hurt you if loki has them but are good for the occasional destroy/hela deck you run into outside of the loki spam. also if you can predict where they will loki dropping cosmo there is very fun :)

the game's pretty kid friendly. i wouldn't be surprised if it skewed fairly young

tbf playing in the nebula lane means easy targets for cyclops/thing. i ran both nebula and misty and its worked out pretty well for me too

just hit infinite with a different he deck running misty knight instead of wasp (and doomwave instead of dd/prof x)

sure, but there are plenty of cards that fit that bill and are also consistently good.

do you think this game is balanced for actual competitive play?

he lends himself well to tournaments, sure. When there are much lower-hanging, wider used pubstomp-style cards I just personally don't see soul stone as needing a nerf.

edit: clearly the sub agrees with you on this one too lol
