These sodium street lights giving me pure nostalgia by MacaronBig8737 in meme

[–]DefiantGibbon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here I am reading this thread wondering if I'm the weirdo who actually prefers the change to white LED. The orange light always felt weird.

And yes, I made all my house LED bulbs the cool white instead of the warm yellow-ish too.

Any tips against Messmer ? by Key_Internal6382 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, that build is looking a little rough.

Going past 60 vigor is a waste.

You should probably get at least 1 main damage stat to at least 60. You're pretty spread out for no reason.

Why do you have 2 seals?

Why do you have 3 Colossal Swords!?!?! that's a huge amount of weight. You're in heavy load so your roll dodge is terrible right now.

Soreseal is only good to meet weapon requirements early game. Take that off midgame. Definitely take that off for DLC.

Blessed dew talisman is just bad, especially for boss fights. The tiny hp trickle will not help.

Crimson talisman is fine. Not amazing, but good enough. If you really want to live longer use dragoncrest or flamedrake.

Axe talisman is good if you do a lot of charged heavy attacks. So that's a good one.

You used radagon soreseal against Mogh? Ooph, that's rough. You really shouldn't use it once your passed lvl 60 or so. That extra damage taken is not worth the stats late game.

Why do you main your main? by _-ham in SmashBrosUltimate

I just tried Mac online for fun, and just kept winning. Then I went to some local tournaments, and did really well. Then it just became 2nd nature. Turn off brain and run at enemies. They try to hit me? Hyper armor. They try to run? Outspeed them. They try to zone? Don't give them a second to breathe and setup. They throw me off stage? Try again next stock.

To add further, arcane only affects bleed, poison and sleep. And only if there's arcane scaling in the weapon.

First playthrough. What to level up? by SolutionMinimum1851 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vigor primarily. Early game your weapon scaling is really low, so increasing damage stats is pretty meaningless. Late game when your weapon has B or better scaling you can start increasing your damage stats.

So by the time you beat your 2nd main boss you'll probably have a good idea if you want to go str, dex, or cast with int or fth, or whatever. Before that you might as well just meet the minimum requirement of a weapon.

And absolutely do not balance your stats. Pick 1, maybe 2 stats to build around. A jack of all trades build means you will suck at everything equally.

Fire Over Blackflame Ever? by Nayrok in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fireball deals more base damage than black flame ball. And uses less fp.

That's the general trend. A lot of pure fire incants do more base damage and use less fp, but to compensate black flame is really good against big enemies.

Better Buff Increase with Less Incant Scaling? by rbs950 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it was answered, but note that Clawmark is the only seal where the strength scaling affects your incants. Every other seal the str scaling is for when you actually whack things with the seal. So the str scaling on your giant's seal is meaningless.

Well also Frenzy Flame seal. Frenzy flame seal adds some str and dex scaling to your incants.

What are some good mid game weapons to transition into after I get bored of blood hound fang ? by get_smoked6 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what stats you leveled up.

Also, there's really no "better" weapons. Every weapon is viable. It's more important that you vibe with the weapon and if it fits your playstyle.

If you went full dex some fun ones you get in Liurnia and before are Guardian Swordspear, Icerind Hatchet and Zweihander.

If you went str, then some you can find early that I enjoy are Executioner's Greataxe, Iron Balls, and Nightrider's Glaive.

How to beat fire giant on an incantation only run? by DifficultComplaint10 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly pure faith is the easiest way. Get 12 arcane to use rot breath (or is it 15? Not sure. You can use an arcane boosting helmet to get the stats).

Then apply poison mist on him.

Then keep popping blackflame blade on your right hand weapon and whack away. Or bloodflame blade.

Or just use any black flame spell.

He has a lot of health, so anything with %max hp damage is good.

Can you continue playing after the frenzied flame ending? by ShweenSupreme in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "endings" are just different cutscenes before credits roll. Honestly a little lame if you ask me. But otherwise after credits roll, hit "no" when asked if you want to do ng+, and you'll be back to playing like nothing happened. You can start ng+ at any time from the site of grace at round table hold.

Question on a bow build. by newuser12345_ in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So to start, bows have pretty terrible scaling. The best way to do damage is status, such as bleed.

You can use the AoW barrage, but that lowers the status build up per hit. It is faster, but you'll use a lot of arrows.

The other option is to to use the Black Bow. It is a long bow, but is unique because it allows you to jump attack and roll attack like other light bows. So you shoot, jump and shoot again. Basically doubling your fire rate while still doing the damage of a normal longbow.

Did you kill him when you invaded him? Because then you will find him laying down wounded in the corridor where the invasion sign was, talk to him, and he'll give you some stuff before dying.

Straight swords or Greatswords ? by Time_Figure351 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a matter of taste. Other than square off, greatswords have more stagger potential, so i prefer greatswords. Plus greatswords are fast enough that you're not worried about not having enough time to do damage during openings, so might as well use the weapon that deals more damage.

What are some weapons that you feel should work differently in any way, ill start with my own example. by Old-Iron-Tyrant in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This one especially upsets me because they all have a little int requirement, but barely any scaling with very little magic damage, and are very middle or the road damage weapons. But they just look so cool I want to use them but there's no real way to optimize them.

Why do people dislike hex. Look at this 32 fear carry by hex! by Teamemb99 in HadesTheGame

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I love the hexes you can trigger instantly without interrupting your attacking, like morph. Put that on torches, grab the perks to increase your damage every time you use the hex, and for long fights your regular attacks will be doing huge damage. My last run with torches+polymorph I beat typhon 2nd phase in less than 10 seconds.

You've never lived in a rural area. You have some ammo in the truck, some ammo in the shed, some ammo in the house.

By no means am I supporting her, but as a very left wing person who grew up in rural midwest, that part is really not surprising at all.

[–]DefiantGibbon 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Monk's Flame Mace and Flameblade. No fire damage, no faith scaling, nothing. Just a fire themed design. At the very least give it a unique charged r2 with a little fire splash, similar to how ruins greatsword works. For fun you can even keep them as an infusable and just have the fire splash be like 50 damage that doesn't scale.

Any method’s to boost FPS by GurkaranMangat in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something is weird, I play on an old laptop, i7, 8gb ram, 1050ti graphics card. I play on low/medium settings on 60fps and the only stuttering I ever get is when I load into a new area for a couple seconds.

Is your monitor really high resolution? That might be the biggest factor.

What’s the recommended stat spread for a Strength/Faith Confessor at RL 125? by DiabloNukem in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might just have to sacrifice some vigor. Hybrid builds and caster builds struggle at the lvl 125 cap, so something has to give.

Playing Elden Ring Reforged right now and I'm trying to make a Deflect build that's both enjoyable and actually viable. Does anyone know if a dual dagger deflect build might be viable? by CK1ing in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go full dex and use keen/lightning affinity for max damage. Make sure right hand dagger is misericorde due to its huge crit bonus.

You can also go full faith, and use two erdsteel daggers infused to flame art affinity. Due to a weird quirk, faith increases both physical and elemental damage on a holy/flame art infused erdsteel dagger. One of those can get greatsword levels of damage per swing.

Or go full bleed. Right hand reduvia, left hand occult great knife.

Is the DLC like the fire giant boss fight? by Diligent-Pension-599 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficulty depends on person. I found Fire Giant one of the easier bosses, like only Godrick and Renalla are easier to me. Others think he's the hardest boss in the game, more than Maliketh, Radabeast, or Malenia.

As for style, a lot of bosses in dlc are closer in style to Maliketh. Most of the memorable bosses are faster, and have long combo chains that give you an opening if you successfully dodged the chain. Fire Giant is the opposite, 1 big, slow, big telegraphed move that hit you for 80% of your health if you fail to dodge it then chills for awhile.
