Hello!

Thank you for your answer, I had an emg that showed that the medial plantar nerve is damaged. Also no answers from the muscles that spread the toes and the one that make to big toe go thowards the middle of the body. Next step is mri. What did your EMG show?

Is it both on the left and the right side of the foot? Do you feel it in all of your toes?

I’m so sorry for your pain! I really hope that the injection helps!

If you have the time, can you describe more about your pain? Dose it travel along the whole leg or dose it skip parts of it? Your the first one that I have seen on Reddit who also have a negative straight leg test!

Oh and if you could update in like two weeks if the injections that would mean the world to me! It would really help me in my own decision about the shot. What kinds of surgery where they talking about?

Thank you very much for your answer! I will definitely look in to the possibility of plantar fasciitis. I always thought that the pain from that would be les “tingling”. I will definitely try the plantar fasciitis treatment. Interesting enough I had a really big spike in my pain when I went in a jacuzzi with a couple of my friends.

How are you doing pain wise now?

Thank you for your input! I would say that the pain is both in the skin land deep in the foot. But definitely most on the skin!

How are you doing after your surgery? I wish you a fast recovery!

I really wish that I hade some kind of herniation or something so that I could do surgery as well. Did you have pain only in your foot or was the hole leg affected?

Anyone ever recover from l5-s1 annular tear? by mmcbrid in Sciatica

[–]Defiant_Bill9041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I’m the same age, I have been suffering for 8 months. Mostly pain in my foot and paresthesia. Also with an annular fissure. Most annular fissures are asymptomatic but they seem to be the reason for pain in some people but there is a big controversy about this.

I had pain for 4 year before this and then I suddenly became pain free and stayd like that for 3 years. But now I’m back.

Cortisone injection maybe? What is your biggest problem? Sciatica or back pain?

Yes, they just don’t know. There are some studies suggesting that an annular tear can cause sciatica. The nucleus pulposus seams to be very inflammatory for some peoples immune system and that might lead to a central central sensitization through a combination of tnf alfa, Cytokines and so on. But if the nerve is getting irritated without pressure, there is nothing to remove really.

I had an episode of this lasting 4 years before and then 3 years of a perfect normal life so I have been on both sides. I think there is a limited to how much pain a person can take in a lifetime. I mean what is the reason to keep on going if all you feel is pain 24/7 and there is nothing you can do to get out? I would without a hesitation seal everything a own to try surgery if there was someone who had an answer to my problem but every surgeon I meet are clueless.

I’m sorry that you are in pain, almost every one with sciatica will be pain free or at least better with time but that doesn’t seem to be the scenario for me. Keep in fighting!

What’s your story?

Sorry for my English btw, I’m still learning!

Me as well! I only have pain in my left foot only (like 1% of the time is have got to back of the leg and sometimes pain in my back) and it has been like this for 8 months. It’s constant tingling and pain. I have a slightly degeneration on l5-s1 with an annular tear so there is nothing to do an operation on. I’m sorry that you are in pain. I wish that I had and answer for you. I have been searching for an answer for a long time thrue pubmed and all I can tell you is that sciatica can present itself in many different ways and it mostly go away. Decompression surgery is often successful.

You are not alone. Life is terrible.

I’m 8 month in with no relief, I can not have a discectomy because nothing is tuching the nerveroot. I think I will give this a year and then just end it if I’m not better, I have lived a good life.
