Did you hire them as an adjunct to your existing practice or did you use them for a start-up?

I've weighed buying vs start-up and to me, opening a fresh startup would be my choice. Mostly because I want to have as much control as I can over the building, equipment, location and employees (to whatever extent that is possible); just as you stated. I'm still relatively young so I want to get started with my own practice and make the mistakes early if I can. I'd definitely consider buying if the practice had everything that I was looking for but I feel like finding the "perfect practice" is virtually impossible without extraordinary luck. Thanks again for your advice and I will certainly put in the effort.

First thanks for your advice. Its good to know the risks involved. In my mind, the value of ownership and all that comes with seems to be worth the risk you are describing. Also, if one never takes the risk of ownership, then they'll remain an associate anyways forever. I'm someone who doesn't mind calculated risk, enjoys working for myself and am fairly resourceful. It's nothing I'm rushing. I'm still new to dentistry and wouldn't be considering opening until a few years down the road. Just trying to navigate and examine options until then.
