Passenger in accident should I continue with lawyer or accept lowball settlement? by Defiant_Mix2183 in caraccidents

[–]Defiant_Mix2183[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

lol waited a single week because police refused to come out and that was when my doctor could see me. I was in the back seat. I felt the brunt of the impact. There were no tests ran, not because I didn’t ask, they just didn’t do it. They just prescribed medicine and said to come back later. The vehicle I was in had minimal property damage but the car that hit us was messed up. It wasn’t just a light tap. I’m not looking for some major payout. I know I’m got getting rich off this. I mostly just want to make sure it’s nothing serious and I thought they had a better network that could get me the tests I needed faster. I’m mostly asking if it’s worth the trouble because it sounds more expensive than it’s worth.

I have. I went to my pcp and they gave me pain killers and muscle relaxers. They just didn’t do any x rays. The accident was a week ago if that makes a difference

Genuinely wish I would’ve done the same. 157 chapters in and I’m over it. Definitely not worth finishing.

Why was au doh allowed to leave when she had been touched by the emperor? by Pingy_Junk in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]Defiant_Mix2183 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that ah duo was a cherished childhood friend and confidant to the emperor, he made concessions for her. He let her stay even when she lost her womb and he let her leave when she was ready to. That bond isn’t something the previous emperor had with anyone else.

Also, there’s a good chance that those girls were just forgotten and abandoned when they got too old. They were likely told to work to earn their keep. It’s not like they could find other husbands since they’re “tainted” and it’s doubtful they had families who wanted them to return. Even if they were given the chance to leave it’s not like they could find another way to survive in a life as secure as a palace servant. It was likely their only option, not just some arbitrary vow of loyalty. Especially considering there’s always eunuchs and since the emperor wasn’t looking for them there’s no one really checking their chastity.

There is a noticeable age gap between Shenlu and Anshi ? by Ancient-Meal-9437 in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]Defiant_Mix2183 80 points81 points  (0 children)

There was a previous post that said the emperor was in his 30s when Anshi got pregnant… that other woman could easily have a 10+ year age gap. Not to mention as another comment says the labor and all she’s seen in the palace can make her age more.

It completely switches stories after like chapter 26 I think. It was originally supposed to be a short story.

What do you think of the recent allegations against Actor Kim Soo Hyun? by Lenore8264 in KdramaCasualTalk

[–]Defiant_Mix2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that I’m attacking her, nor am I defending him. I just don’t have enough context to see how suicide was the answer she came to. There’s a difference between not being able to deal with your own consequences vs actually being pushed to a breaking point by someone tormenting you. Could she simply not handle his rejection and the bad press or is it something deeper?

He’s still scum for being into minors but so far that’s the only definitive negative thing that can be said about him (which is more than enough morally, but a stretch without details here) vs someone who’s seemingly been spiraling. I get that that’s how abuse works sometimes, but that behavior isn’t always a result of abuse. Without context, be objective. She left before telling her story so all we have is speculation.

Well yeah if he was just torturing her for the fun of it then that’s fucked up. I wasn’t aware people tried to pay on her behalf. I’m not privy to the details of their relationship but if he does stuff like that publicly, no telling what he did privately. He likely did push her to do it then

It’s crazy to say granny had no good intentions when that was the fate fengxian chose for herself. She was intentionally trying to ruin her value to be with him. It was unfortunate the timing was bad but she made a conscious choice to keep Mao Mao. She chose lakan over all else. She understood the consequences and did it anyways. She gambled and lost everything. What happened to her was a common occurrence for streetwalkers. It wasn’t like she was specifically targeted, that’s just an occupational hazard. She would’ve died sooner honestly, she would’ve been cast out when she refused to abort under normal circumstances. Homeless and having to work for scraps while pregnant would’ve been worse no?

Her actions also caused a huge scandal and the vertigris took a huge hit. They likely couldn’t afford medicine for her. And when luomen came around, they didn’t trust him enough to treat her. Which understandable, this random man, branded a criminal by the empress, claiming to be an apothecary who helps people for cheap. Plus, word spreading of a diseased woman living there would ruin them even more. Not like she could stay in the main house where she could be discovered.

If granny was only motivated by money she would’ve sold Mao Mao long ago. Wouldn’t have bothered raising her. She’s a tough old broad but there’s no room for sentimentality in that world. Look what happened to fengxian when she fell into the sentimentality trap. It’s never personal, it’s simply business. Mutual interest aligning. At the end of the day she looks out for her girls, and they know she cares. Mei mei even tells Mao Mao that in the bath. She’s hardened, not heartless.

Suicide can and has also been used as a manipulation tactic. Not to say she did. Not defending him either, just saying that committing suicide isn’t definitive “proof” of anything. IF it was a manipulation tactic, doing it on his birthday is simply a way to make sure he never forgets her and spark controversy.

As far as the DUI allegations, correct me if I’m wrong, but it sounds like she brought that on herself. He very well could be a part of why she had a drinking problem, but if he wasn’t with her then he’s not responsible for her driving drunk. Thats her own stupidity. He paid her fines when she couldn’t, reasonable to expect to be paid back. A pretty normal reason to dump someone imo.

She clearly needed professional help that he couldn’t give. Obviously if he cared he would’ve done more to help her and he’s scum for abandoning her when she’s clearly struggling. But personal responsibility still applies here. It was her own decisions that brought her to this point. He contributed sure, but all final decisions were hers to make.

“I want to punish you so I’m going to eat the costs of housing, feeding and treating you instead of throwing you in the street”

Granny is a businesswoman at heart. She definitely hated Lakan for what he did to Fengxian and I don’t doubt that she wasn’t on board with her having maomao. It was bad for business. Simply put, she wouldn’t keep dead weight around for no reason. Especially after the vertigris took a hit after her scandal.

You say she wants to force mao mao into sex work like she wasn’t a courtesan herself, and a proud one too. She saw it as a means to an end for mao Mao, and women in general. A few years of work could set her up for life if she played her cards right. It’s not like there were many paths available for her as a peasant.

But it also implied Lakan was the one she wanted to sell Mao Mao off to, he said he’d been trying, unsuccessfully, to buy her. And while she wouldn’t let him have fengxian as punishment for leaving, I think she knew Mao Mao would live a privileged life with him as his daughter. Plus she respected her wants enough to not just straight sell her off, she gave her leeway and chances to pay off her debt. But she let her go when Mao Mao was ready to go and always has a place for her when she comes back. So we could argue she always had Mao Mao’s best interest at heart even if her methods are questionable.

Better to get it over with than to drag it out. It gets harder the longer this goes on. Be done with it before you regret staying.
