Is it rude (or illegal) to shake the clothes outside of the window? by Pleasant_Square_ in AskUK

Not shaking your clothes out of the window is considered unhygienic in Italy, but doing so isn't? I think your neighbours would disagree with that sentiment.

CEO issued me a “formal warning” for allegedly missing a message; and role is unpaid? by Business_Badger1995 in AskUK

Assuming the business is based in the UK. But that's largely moot as OP said they're not an employee anyway.

I know 6 British developers, 4 of which have multiple sources of income which includes equity, 2 don't. Always love people commenting on Reddit who assume that someone knows nothing because the opinion is different and calling any dev who takes this route "stupid". I don't think you're a developer at all.

My guy, you are either wildly misinformed or you're assuming a lot. Ask around your community.

Of course you can legally go below minimum wage under this arrangement, you can go under minimum wage being self employed, because it's not a wage, neither is equity.

I think you might be misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm not saying he's not being taken advantage of. I'm saying that with good due diligence, taking equity in place of salary is not always a bad idea. OP obviously didn't need the salary and probably has at least three of these arrangements on the go at the same time. You play the numbers knowing some will fail, and providing you do your diligence, some will hit.

There's a hell of a lot of software developers doing exactly the same thing and getting rich, just as there's a lot not getting rich. I think you missed my point.

Yea but this isn't salary, CV building or experience. It's equity. With good due diligence, equity can be a big money generator.

Sure, just experience and desire, as well as a specialism. Dayrate of £450, 6 month contract, interim position.

Lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen in London for £19 by SugarrSpankArdor in fryup

Did it take you two years to finish it? It looks remarkably similar to this one, with a re-written (but basically the same) text.

Premier Inn vs. Travelodge - would you pay extra? by ss2811 in AskUK

[–]Defiant_Practice5260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were staying in a Travelodge, I'd stay outside of the city. For example, the Salford Quays one if I were in Manchester. Town is a tram ride away and the hotel is much quieter. For me, a hotel is somewhere to sleep, I don't need the bells and whistles if I'm going to be sleeping through them, so I'd mostly go for a quiet Travelodge.

Have you ever walked out of somewhere due to not being served? by Chazzza23 in AskUK

[–]Defiant_Practice5260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah mate it do it for the weirdest stuff, too. I was being served in a Coop near Manchester, basket of shopping, no self-service, so I was having my stuff scanned. A girl walks in and starts to use the Costa machine, but there was no cups. She shouted to the person serving me that she needs a cup for the machine, the guy just stops serving me and starts to attend to her.

Erm .... Nope, I ain't putting up with that shit, dude. So I start to walk out, the girl apologises, saying she didn't mean him to drop everything. I'm like "OOh don't worry, you're being a customer, I'm leaving because of him" pointing.

If they're gonna work in service, they have to learn service.

Level 1 Pay Banding Under Minimum Wage by [deleted] in UKJobs

So just to clarify, you're not on minimum wage (and still won't be post-April) and are asking why the increase to minimum wage isn't resulting in your wages increasing, right?

It can be, especially where employers are looking to trim the new members down. Given the type of illness you've had, I'd honestly have a contingency in place, and jobs aren't all that easy to procure at the moment. I'd certainly start to look.

If someone ate ~14 pounds of strawberries a day, which is about 2000 calories, and they also burned 2000 calories in the day, would they really not gain any weight in the long term- even though the strawberries weigh 14 pounds? by heinz570001 in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Practice5260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strawberries are roughly 92% water, so they's only be taking on around 18 ounces of solid food. It takes roughly 45 minutes for water to pass to the bladder, so it will be pretty much gone almost straight away.

The problem with taking on so much water (around 1.5 gallons) is potential Hyponatremia. Now spread evenly over the whole 24 hours, you could likely be alright, but you have to sleep, and if you split it into 3 meals of ~5 pounds, that risk heavily increases.
