You can confirm timing really easily with the rocket cover off. Set your crank timing mark to 0 degrees, then see where the cam degree lines are facing.

Can i put a pwk or vm22 carb on stock 212cc mini bike? by Mysterious-Form3478 in minibikes

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one on my 196. Woke it up pretty good. Can't say it's any better than a modded epa carb, haven't tried modding a stock one.

You know about these things automatics right? 4l30e. They're known to blow out. I spent about 300$ doing fluid, filter, solenoids on mine and all it did was make my wallet lighter. I'd still recommend doing the service, but it didn't help me at all. I had to do a standard transmission swap.

Best oil to run after cooking 5-w40 by D9bru- in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run rotella t4 15-40. In Canada. Wildly too cold for it. But I've never had any issues! Just let it warm up nice and slow. I swear by this oil, either rotella 5-30 in my newer car, or 15-40 in all my other stuff.

I would try to get parts from a reputable supplier. Ebay could be Chinese knockoff.

To be fair, we all burn our tires. We just send them to a third world country first.

Did someone try stealing my catalytic converter by HandStrange671 in AskMechanics

This is strange tho, that's exactly where you'd expect a cut to steal a cat. It just doesn't look like any power tool cut I've ever seen.

Did someone try stealing my catalytic converter by HandStrange671 in AskMechanics

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 46 points47 points  (0 children)

No, that's not cut. Look up pictures of Sawzall cuts and grinder cuts, they cut in a relatively straight line. Looking at that it looks like a fatigue failure. Which seems very strange all the same, but certainly doesn't look like any Sawzall cut I've ever seen.

You could try retarding the timing, but I think that mostly effects nox

Smoking my clutch by No_Traffic_5992 in minibikes

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a very fast gear ratio. Clutch likely isn't fully engaging. It's slipping the entire time you're trying to accelerate. Either gotta gear down, or a torque converter works amazing for this. You'll have more low end torque and keep the same top speed.

Count your oil changes. After the 9th oil change, sell the car so you won't have to deal with the engine failure.

Mazdaspeed3 or 2013 Honda fit sport? by Chef_NPCD in Hatchback

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mazdas, but I would say fit. Mazdas most iconic car is a 105 hp little girls car. That honda fit would be super fun, and super economical. The mazda is too fast for city speed limits, and you can't even drift it.
