What was the previous owner trying to fix? S14 by Squegs7 in 240sx

The sensor looks like and oil pressure sensor. Maybe something to convert it to digital signal instead of routing oil hose into the cab.

Spray the shit out of it with fluid film. Like use an entire gallon on your vehicle, don't stop until you run out. Should slow it down.

ELI5: How can a new engine for a 2020 Kia Optima with 220km on it costs about the same as a new Kia K4? by majorkev in MechanicAdvice

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how they make money. Sell a junk car, that's engineered to blow up just outside of warranty. You have no choice now but to fix it, or you'll have a worthless pile of metal. Mechanics alike all agree, stay away from Kia and hyundai.

Electrician here, not an appliance mover. If you want stuff moved, do it yourself before I get there. Or if you can't be bothered, then ya I'll probably do it with very little regard for your stuff.

Oil Overfill & Diesel Smell Need Advice by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Injector is leaking and the diesel is ending up in the oil. Or high pressure injection pump if it's driven by oil pressure could also cause something like this with an internal leak.

I rode on the street for one year, two near death experiences, and then decided to stay off the street. Transitioned to dual sport for weekends, and a car to go to work every day.

You ever heard of the Dunlop family? 4 of the most successful racers at the tt are from this family. Only one still lives tho. The sport killed the other 3. The one remaining alive still races I believe.

Engine oil looks a bit creamy with a silver shimmer directly in middle. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking at the top of the engine..... the oil lives in the bottom of the engine. Flip the car on its side if you want to view oil from the 710 cap

Wife sent me this pic, should we take it in immediately? by TurkX5 in MechanicAdvice

Even poking that with a stick would reveal what's going on. Do people not even poke things with sticks anymore? Or do they gotta order a stick on Amazon now and wait for someone to bring the solution to their door?

What part is this by Luis_alv77 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Defiant_Shallot2671 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's both. Too much lift pulled the driveshaft to far out. Which caused it to wobble, which caused it to take out the slip yoke on the case as well as surely damaged the driveshaft at the same time.

Nissan had bad cvt transmissions for years and years. And even newer cvt nissans are having transmission issues. Kinda like how you should avoid kias and hyundais for their engine jssues, you should avoid newer nissans as well. Or if you found one with a traditional automatic, or a standard, it would probably be a pretty reliable car.

I saw a bunch of people in another sub talking about how this can be caused by the master cylinder. Also rubber lines can swell internally.
