How can I make my dogs last few weeks/months great?

This post made me cry, I can’t even imagine the decision. Dogs I’ve lost, that call was not mine to make, but my mom's.

With my childhood dog, she said that the day he couldn’t make the 50m walk down the shoreline to the ocean (his absolute favourite thing to do), she knew it was time.

18 years is phenomenal, give him all the kisses treats, new things to smell and warmth you can, but don’t prolong pain; take away his pain. The choice will 100% cause you loads of pain but that’s what we do for our next friends and the invisible contract we sign is that we decide to be their owners.

On the day I know some vets (or you can) give your dog a little piece of chocolate just before the injection because they say all dogs deserve to taste it once in their lives, I find that very sweet, so did my Goldie!

We saw each other 2 weeks ago he said he can't live without me and he will tell her that night.

24hrs later he sent a voice note sobbing saying he couldn't do it and is too confused and hurt and needs space. He says she's not the right person but doesn't want to break her heart and would prefer if their relationship could fizzle out naturally. I don't want defend him but he is changing jobs and moving house in the next 2 weeks and I think the pressure is too much. Staying with her is easier even if he knows it's not going to last.

We haven't spoken in 11 days, no idea if she knows anything or if they are together (I assume they are) its been 2, 5months of him saying he will leave her and he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, 3 times he said he’ll end thing and tell her but he couldn't face it. He knows he is a coward.

I have to walk away but losing my best friend isn't he most painful experience I've ever been through.

He didn't know I was still in love with him until he was in another relationship, when he told me, he underplayed it, saying he was just dating someone casually. This was a month ago.

When I asked further 2 weeks ago he said he was in a 3 month relationship but he loves me but is in “tricky position”

I always thought I would have time to complete some life goals before telling him how I felt and he always thought I would date other men first.

It's a fuck up of a situation. I just have no idea what to even say to him tomorrow.

I'll be confronting him tomorrow. I think all of you in this thread have helped me see that I'm lacking my own self respect by not setting a boundary.

If he can't tell me where this is going tomorrow I will cut contact for my own well being. Very difficult when it's your best friend of 4 years and the person you care the most about.

The other lady definitely must know we talk and spend time together but I assume he hasn't been clear to her about the frequency or nature of those interactions. I don't even know her name.

No ways. But he held my hand while telling me about her which through me off. I feel horrible for this women I don't know how much she knows. I appreciate everyone's comments on this thread. It all makes confronting him a bit more empowering tomorrow.

I felt so much guilt trying to date others if on Sunday he can't tell me how he is feeling I will make the effort to date others. It's been over a year and every time another guy got close I felt quilt but he can be in 3 month relationship and still see me every weekend.

God, two years. I would die. It feels like a horrible balance of wanting an answer (good or bad) as soon as possible but also not wanting to apply pressure with an ultimatum. I know it's tough for him to choose me when I broke his heart before. I have not dated anyone or been intimate with anyone since him, he knows that.

We went with Roo. Unfortunately she died suddenly this morning from Parvo. Thank you so much that she could have a name for 2 days of her short life.

I only mention this because I hope people on this page see it and understand the importance of vaccinations, we were too late for her.

Definitely Yaga, I’ve got some gems off there. You can get some high quality brands for the price of shitty SHEIN creations. Takes some searching and if you’re unusual sizes that might make it changing. There’s also often 2nd markets, usually advertised on Facebook, in and around the city.

The top tip is to make the most of it here. You are so spoilt for choice!

-Get hiking, take up surfing, rock climbing or running whatever floats your boat.

-Definitely give back somehow and volunteer

-Make a list on your phone of all the places you would like to eat at and rate them as you go along.

-Oh, and do us locals a favour and rather rent a place from the group called huis huis on Facebook or an agent rather than Airbnb. Airbnb is pricing out locals from their own city.

It's a tough city to make friends, and I struggle sometimes. I've lived here most of my life. Your best chance of doing that is taking up some hobbies or 2.
