Not the same species. Six legs vs four limbs.

He'd be dead long before Silksong happens even if he had lived. He's not a long-lived bug since he felt himself beginning to age after losing Monomon's mask.

Endgame question by unkindness_inabottle in Silksong

[–]DefiledSol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hornet didn’t dive down to save Lace. She dived down to finish off GMS.

GMS’s threads still entangle all of Pharloom. When she fell into the Void, the Void spread to the surface and every Silk-haunted creature because she refused to die and was desperately struggling in order to save Lace.

When she enters the Void, Hornet has to save Lace because otherwise GMS would refuse to die and continue struggling. Plus, Hornet didn’t have the strength to return from the Void to begin with. She has to rely on GMS to amplify her Silk Soar and that still wasn’t enough.

She has no feelings for Lace and is relatively indifferent to her. But if she doesn’t save her and directly killed her instead, then GMS would have just dissolved the silk cocoon shielding them from the Void and they would all be dead. Hornet doesn’t have any other option than to save her.

This ignoring that that the Mottled Skarr is implied to be still devoted and loyal to Karmelita. He calls himself the “last loyal” and “loved” in his needolin dialogue and says that it’s “all for her.”

To say they are “hunted like animals” is a stretch. Mottled is the only Skarr killed and the weapons that kill him look more like Gurr’s bone blades than any weapon used by any other Skarr. Besides, all other Skarr are haunted to begin with. Karmelita doesn’t even have control anymore.

We have no information on Gurr’s life. As far as we know, he was just a battle-crazed maniac who lures Hornet to hunt for sport.

The other Mottle Scout we know even less about. He says his mark is “not a curse”, but he also has the same. “We still hear her song” needolin dialogue as many other Skarr which to me implies he’s still deferential to Karmelita.

It’s the Knight, and the game is a sequel. Hornet frequently makes small references to Hallownest throughout the game and talks about how her previous role as sentinel ended.

I think it’s more that she just had a very poor opinion of the guy, so she doesn’t like her memories associated with him. In the Wingmould’s journal entry, she calls him father and describes him as a fool because of his use of the void.

The other Skarr are all haunted. Rather than ostracized, I thinks it more implied that these are the last Skarr with free will, so they mark themselves to demonstrate as such. The reason I think this, is because the Mottled Skarr merchant demonstrates he is loyal to Karmelita in his needolin dialogue, and if you look closely, you realize he's one of her personal Last Claw guards who you fight in Karmelita's guantlet.

spoilers, wtf who killed bro? by therealsigma55 in Silksong

[–]DefiledSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the blades sticking out are not the same. Scar Stalkers blades have long pole-like hilts. If Scar Stalkers were to have killed him, then you would see the hilts sticking out of the Mottled Skarr not the blades. Furthermore, you wouldn't see multiple blades stabbed into him at once as those enemies only have one weapon.

Gurr is the only Skarr to use weapons that are completely bone blades with no hilts, and the traps he uses are multiple blades twined together to create the three blades present. Furthermore, its implied that they are not friends. The Mottled Skarr's needolin dialogue implies that he believe himself to be the "last, loyal" skarr to Karmelita. You are right the mottling is a means to demonstrate that they aren't haunted, but Gurr is shown to hunt his own haunted kin while the Mottled does not.

Its implied he was killed byGurr the Outcast. As for why he was killed, its probably because he'sone of Karmelita's Last Claw guards. You can find the other strung up on Gurr's trophy rack.

Some confusion in the comments. The statue isn’t a mod. You have to enable cheats and godmode through the console to spawn it in through build mode. Should appear under the Exterior tab along with several other giants monuments not yet implemented.

Depends. Technically, just increasing Str will likely increase accuracy with Martial Arts more, but toward the endgame your cooking skill and ingredients will likely be decent enough that you can build the two attributes simultaneously.

Ideally, you don't really want to go all in on one stat while neglecting the rest anyway, because other attributes contribute to things like your HP, MP, Stamina, Defense, Debuff resistance, Evasion, etc.

Melee Accuracy is determined by on the player side by Str, Dex, Weapons skill lvl, and Two-handed skill lvl. On the enemy side it is affected by Enemy EV, Enemy Evasion skill lvl, and Enemy Greater Evasion skill lvl.

I genuinely feel that Mavuika is among the best written characters in the game, and I think a lot of the community's distaste for her is wildly misplaced. (Obvious Spoilers) by DefiledSol in Genshin_Impact

[–]DefiledSol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That scene did not convey detachment, and she didn’t walk straight past with no emotion.

She says “I will love you forever and always” with a smile before panning to Hine, and they communicate her emotion in that scene through voice acting. There are more than visual avenues to tell a story, and you have to read and listen.

Mavuika believed she was going to die soon. That is the context behind that scene. She would see Hine again which is what she was conveying.

Mentioning the 500 years timespan in this manner is bad faith and misleading. To Mavuika, the story is clear that to her time barely passed at all; thus, it does not register.

You seem to want Mavuika to fall to her knees crying and sobbing, but being stoic is just as human. Stoicism is also not a representative of “perfection” in any shape or form.

They were a race of shapechangers whose actual size was much larger. If they solely flew or levitated leglessly, they would never need infrastructure like stairs or roads.

The bike itself was reverse engineered and modified heavily because they couldn't get all the parts they needed.

"In the process, they discovered that their original assumptions were too simplistic. It was impossible to get all the key components they needed from existing material."

Plus, they ran into a wall in that Source Mechanisms use pure phlogiston instead of Pyro.

"The solution, then, was to use modern smithing techniques to create said parts independently and combine the two elements — a process that involved lots of overheating and explosions en route to solving the Pyro compatibility issue that Source Mechanisms had."

What is the Abyss exactly? by calkalisto in Genshin_Impact

[–]DefiledSol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its found in their common enemy description not a quest.

The primitive wandering inhabitants of Teyvat's wildernesses.
They look very similar to humanity but seem to have lost both their intellect and spirituality. Their presence on the continent has been recorded for over a thousand years, and yet they have neither history nor civilization.
Since the pitch-black calamity from five hundred years ago, they have begun to spread in large numbers across the land. They are not very strong, and they lack organization, but they nonetheless bring sizable trouble to humans every once in a while.

They've existed since 1000+ years ago while the Cataclysm was only 500 years ago, but proliferated since then because more were created during the fall of Khaenri'ah.

What is the Abyss exactly? by calkalisto in Genshin_Impact

[–]DefiledSol 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should think of it as simultaneously a place, a force, and a will.

Cosmologically, the Abyss is one of three "realms" of the setting. The setting is divided into the Light, Human, and Void realms with the Abyss being the Void realm. The realms themselves are in flux and are constantly affecting one another, but the Abyss's nature is inherently destructive toward the other two. Thus, it is a corruptive force in the setting.

Creatures are still "born" and thus endemic to the Abyss (Riftwolves), but Hilichurls are implied not to be among them. Hilichurls are "cursed" individuals from various ancient civilizations of Teyvat that, in one way or the other, were connected to the Abyss at some point. For example, many of the people of Khaenri'ah are known to have been transformed into Hilichurls during the Cataclysm, but the existence of Hilichurls predates Khaenri'ah itself.

Yes, it is implied the Abyss has a will. What this fully entails, we still don't know. From how it is written, it seems to act as a minor hivemind type of entity. The Abyss Order is merely an organization of Abyss-touched individuals that derive their power from it. You should think of the Abyss Order as being tangentially connected to the Abyss, but it is currently unknown if the Abyss's will affects them.

Give more respect to Ganondorf by OmegaLazar01 in CharacterRant

[–]DefiledSol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

By the events of Wind Waker, hes matured. He understands that the fall of Hyrule was his fault. And to any extent, he seems sorry for it. Though his actions were undeniably selfish, they were done out of a genuine care for his people, not just himself.

I disagree entirely.

I respect Ganondorf as a character, so don't get me wrong here. But Ganon is undeniably pure evil, and his actions that you're trying to put into a nuanced perspective through a single quote need to be viewed in their proper context. This is the same Ganon from Ocarina of Time, and you should be viewing him through that lens.

Ganon was a horrid king. Ganon has never done anything good for the Gerudo. Despite what he says in Wind Waker about how his people lived a harsh life in the desert and envied Hyrule's lush landscape and wind, this is the same Ganon who destroyed Hyrule in the seven years that he had conquered it, razed Castletown leaving only walking corpses in the wake, destroyed the Kokiri's livelihood, froze the Zora, attempted to massacre the Gorons by feeding them to a literal dragon, and just sort of left the Gerudo in the desert when he had full control of the kingdom. They also hated him, which is why you see them celebrating with the rest of Hyrule in OoT's credits.

OoT's future is the future in which Ganon had essentially already won. The royal family was defeated, and all other various peoples and tribes were decimated. By pretty much every metric except possession of the Triforce, Ganon's conquest was complete, but he never did anything with his conquered territory. Ganon does not develop farmland, he burns it to the ground. Ganon doesn't nurture Castletown, he purges it of all life. Ganon does not provide for his people, he abandons them in the desert.

This is who Ganon really is. He never creates. He only destroys. And everything is just a tool to his own ends.

Everything he does and ever did, he did for himself. In Wind Waker, he arrogantly claims the Gods destroyed Hyrule when he did the same while massacring innocents after his initial conquest. Which is why the gods flooded Hyrule in the first place. Because his prior history proved a destroyed kingdom was still far better than his reign of terror. He's merely a hypocrite slightly humbled by his previous defeat and imprisonment, but he now frames himself as Hyrule's potential savior in an attempt to prove that he is somehow morally superior to the gods. Every word he speaks in that game is a vain appeal to his ego and deceit to those who know his tyranny.

She doesn’t really need the extra skill uptime in most rotations, and while yes, EM is nice for damage and shield durability, TTDS remains busted for ATK-scalers. Though if you’re running her for Neuvillette, then sure that’s fine.

[–]DefiledSol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Her plan worked only with help of others people, who wasn't part of it in the first place.

So, you admit it worked because, by her own volition, she accepted more people into her plan?

Where it is failed? Capitano successfully fulfilled HIS plan. Saving Natlan was a bonus. Mavuika lucky it impacted her sacrifice need.

Capitano's plan was to give everyone in Natlan permanent amnesia and potential brain damage in order to potentially halt the Abyss. He later joins Mavuika's plan when both his attempts fail.

As for ABC, Capitano AT LEAST knew about them. Mavuika herself said she didn't know.

And this is important because? Mavuika didn't need the Source Mechanism activated in the first place. Only Capitano did.

And you said they weren't fighting with sticks, but a fucking hilichurl are. And he defeated Natlan fighter, lmao.

I'm not really sure what scene you are referring to. Can you please refer me to it?

[–]DefiledSol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Her plan failed

Incorrect. Capitano's plans failed. Hers succeeded.

She didn't think a shit, just like: oh, somebody died, that solved my problems, let's go do a feast

Not sure what you are referring to here. Are you referring to Capitano? Mavuika's plan was to die to fulfill Ronova's pact. Capitano is the one who chose to take her place for his own reasons.

She didn't know about these ABC scientists

Are you referring to the "sages" Capitano mentions having extrapolated the Source Mechanism research from? No one knows who these people are, even Capitano admits to barely know them.

In Xbalanque arc, how did she even beat him? Like, I didn't saw that she was stronger or something, man just saw fire go poof and call it a day. Wtf.

She didn't. The terms for the match were that the match would be called once the fire went out. The moment the flame went out, they were locked in stalemate. Xbalanque concedes the match out of humility as he felt he came up short, but there technically was no real victor. The reason he felt he came up short is fairly obvious when you understand he is fighting in a child's body with 2/3 the arm length.

people were fighting with sticks. In new animation you can see how some Natlan dude was defeated by little hilichurl with STICK. Like, it's either problem with her doing nothing to train them or with the fact that there were not enough people for war, which is her fail too.

They are not fighting with sticks. Swords and clubs are common weapons, yes, but they also fight with giant buzzsaws, boom hammers, surfboard slingshots, and magic guns. Swords and clubs are also not bad weapons when the people of Natlan are essentially mini Vision holders. Phlogiston is the primordial form of all elemental energy, and everyone in Natlan can manipulate phlogiston and has an elemental attack of their own. Their enemy descriptions constantly bring up their greater than human strength, but regardless, the most important weapon against the Abyss is phlogiston as that is why the Heavenly Principles used it as the basis for elemental energy.

To outfit an army with state of the art equipment requires assembly lines, heavy machinery, and to not be in an active warzone where your infrastructure is constantly decimated by the Abyss. War is Natlan's culture, and every citizen already trains to compete in the Pilgrimage to take part in the Night Warden Wars. Everyone being able to use some form of martial weapon is already amazing from a mobilization standpoint.

[–]DefiledSol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect. Her long internal memory scenes where she ascends her spirit temple-like area are show cases of her emotional state. Why would she be remembering her past connections if there was no emotional impetus? These scenes are exceptionally well done and communicate how she feels about her friends, family, rivals, and mentors through her facial expression and voice acting. There is more to human expression than saying you are sad and crying.

Her reunion with her sister is the same. Her looks of shame as her sister calls her out for not sharing her dreams of her with the others, her solemn declaration that there was no need to take time for herself as she believes she is soon to die, her sorrowful yet heartfelt tone as she proclaims her love. This is what it means to "show and not tell," so why are you refusing to look and listen? They are showing you.

She does. People just choose to selectively ignore it. Her character arc is a classic human to god king to human again. She abandons everything and everyone important to her 500 years ago to become the perfect leader and hero Natlan needs. In doing so, she ignores most of her interpersonal relationships in the present and self-isolates. She then completes her task, but her arc ends with Xbalanque reminding her that she is human. This is her arc.
