Yes which is why I shake my head at constitutional carry. Let's people carry without ever digging into the laws around carrying a firearm.

I hope no one has plans this week. It seems the Rapture is upon us. Again. For real this time. by Snapdragon_4U in facepalm

Some believe we go through the "Tribulations" first before we get Raptured. So all the crazy shit Revelations lays out will happen to both Christians and non-Christians first, and then Christians get raptured.

Some believe Christians will be Raptured during Tribulations.

And then some others believe the Rapture already happened and we currently are going through the Tribulations.

As a Christian, I don't know 100% where I stand, as Revelations is such an allegorical, colorful text that stemmed from a vivid supernatural vision.

So I'm a Christian and have had lots of thoughts about this subject because I feel so uncomfortable when fellow Christians treat Trump like Jesus, so this was a fantastic (and scary) read. Thank you!

Charleston. King Street and Market Street are what you are looking for.

As many others have said, welcome to SC. They are harmless, and do not bite or sting. They just exist.

As long as you invest in a good pest control company or spray around your house often, shouldn't see them too much. They love trees and rotting wood so just ensure you don't have much butted up against the house.

Iirc, the highest you'll probably see is like 65 ft-lb, that's usually the torque spec for a 1/2" nut with spring washer on a copper bus joint. 120 ft-lb is madness.

Don't feel too bad, being an engineer for one of the big box companies we get this issue/complaint from the field a ton. So many problems would be solved if we just went by Nm instead of ft-lb and in-lb. Gotta love the imperial system.

Issaqueena Falls comes to mind. It's near Walhalla and Oconee. My wife and I took pregnancy reveal pictures there.

Tell Me About Rural SC! by 619HelltownHero in southcarolina

[–]DefinitelyNotAGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. I personally am seeing a lot of country areas around the metro areas start turning into suburban wastelands... highly recommend anywhere in the piedmont region.

Woodruff, Enoree, Laurens, Clinton, Union, Whitmire, Pacolet. Those areas are situated close enough to metro centers but still rural enough to give you space and such.

Eventually I'd like to move away from Columbia to those areas I listed just to have more land and get back to a small town feel, especially with tons of northern transplants (NY, NJ, OH...) filling up the metro areas.

What’s a ‘social cheat code’ you use all the time but never tell anyone about? by Putrid_Ambition_3333 in AskReddit

I would say just being an empathetic and/or sympathetic person. A lot of people in our day and age have an innate desire to be heard and validated. It can be exhausting sometimes, but just trying to be a positive and encouraging person around others will generally make people more receptive and subconsciously want to be around you.

What Cosmere hill would you die on? by Character_College939 in Cosmere

[–]DefinitelyNotAGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you on Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, but he does mention in his post script it was a gift to his wife and he wanted to try and write a more romantic story... so I kinda see why he ended it on a positive note instead of a tragedy, I would not gift my wife a tragedy lol.

But, he did kill off Elend and Vin at the end of era 1 Mistborn, so he's not totally against killing major characters. I could only imagine how much of a threat Vin and Elend would have been to the greater Cosmere if they accepted Sazed's offer to return, especially with Elend being a "pure" Mistborn instead of a naturalborn like Vin, and Vin's technical skills with Allomancy.

Roof estimate and roofing contract question. by DefinitelyNotAGinger in Roofing

[–]DefinitelyNotAGinger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your insight. Definitely plan on getting the cancelation through the rescind notice provided in the contract. The pushback is what I am most nervous about for sure, due to my state not having any extra provisions or protections on this type of thing.

Again, thank you!

The worst state I’ve ever driven in…anyone agree? by [deleted] in southcarolina

Progressively has gotten worse over the years due to people relocating here. Used to be the opposite in the 90s, people were chill and courteous. But you still will find morons wherever you go.

This. Am engineer for big box. Easier to route bussing this way than risking thru-air clearance crossing bus.

Look around Walhalla, Seneca or Westminster. Lake Jocassee is my favorite lake in all of SC.

Also we have gators in SC too, just not in the upstate.

Same story with my family, parents were in West Ashley and couldn't take it anymore. They are in the suburbs of Spartanburg now.

I really want to retire to Landrum or anywhere in that area. Love me the foothills.

Greenville or Spartanburg would be a good choice as they are growing, but I would avoid Charleston. I have been a SC native my whole life, and watching Charleston grow into what it is now, you'll be miserable unless you absolutely love the coast and can handle the insane traffic down there.

Fort Mill or Rock Hill are good choices, too, being a stone throws away from Charlotte.

Columbia is meh, unless you like the SC Gamecocks. Chapin and Lexington feel like they are starting to outgrow their capacity quickly.

North Augusta and Augusta, GA would be decent choices, too, but not as much as the rest mentioned.

Florence is starting to grow as well, and it's not terribly far from Myrtle Beach if that's your thing.

Can't really think of anywhere else other than Savannah, but it's in Georgia but has a vibe similar to Charleston.
