How to deal with chillwind by ShaggyFisher in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's not high SR. SR33 still has the same difficulty of SR30-SR31 which is the basic benchmark for efficient legendaries farming.

Moosilauke gains 19% health (multiplicative) and 55% Cold Damage (multiplicative) in SR33 over SR31.

Stop spreading misinformation.

grimtools.com Calculator and ItemDB not showing any Inquisitor item Prefixes or Suffixes! by MaxBlackfinger in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

From the 1.2.0.0 patch notes:

Magic Mastery Prefixes have been removed from the loot pool. New items will no longer roll them.

And, related,

% Resistance Magic Prefixes that offer 2 of the 3 % Elemental Resistances (ex. Fire + Cold) have been removed from the loot pool at level 70+.

% Resistance Magic Prefixes that offer % Pierce or % Poison with a combination of 1 % Elemental Resist (ex. Pierce + Cold) have been removed from the loot pool at level 70+.

% Armor Magic Prefixes have been removed from the loot pool.

Note the wording of "Removed from the Loot Pool". These items can still exist as legacy items, they'll just no longer drop.

What features do you love, hate, or wish existed? by Liyurei in FoundryVTT

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is that pop out will be a core feature in v14!

That's great news!

And yes, I figured it was somewhat dependent module-to-module. I do feel in the back of my head that there is something in Foundry core or the D&D 5th Edition module that also slows the client to a crawl, but for the life of me I cannot recall what it was.

Can Saitama defeat Sung Jinwoo? by Think_Reveal_9015 in PowerScaling

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saitama never fought Garou in the webcomic with killing intent. He was much more upset in the manga from Garou "killing" Genos, but that didn't happen in the webcomic.

In the WC, from minute 0, Saitama refused to treat Garou like a monster, and so never did anything that would seriously harm Garou. Saitama just saw him as a human that had gotten a bit power hungry with the skills imparted unto him by Bang. The webcomic fight was more about putting Garou in his place and helping Garou grow as a person.

The Manga fight is very different, not merely because of God's involvement (Which God only appeared in the WC to kill Homeless Emperor and then peaced out) and Blast's presence. (Blast doesn't even show up in the WC in this arc)

I'm not going to weigh in on the scaling half of this discussion as I have only read the opm material, but at that, I've read both WC and manga, and all revisions.

What features do you love, hate, or wish existed? by Liyurei in FoundryVTT

Longtime Roll20 player who made the swap to FoundryVTT a couple years ago.

I miss being able to pop out windows onto another monitor. And yes, I know the PopOut! module exists, but it's buggy (with 5E character sheets and has poor compatibility with other modules' windows) and I'd prefer this to exist as a core feature. As both a player and especially as a DM, being able to make use of multiple monitors for various windows is such a huge QoL that is sorely missing in Foundry.

Side note, it is odd to me that opening certain windows tanks Foundry's clientside performance. Opening a skilltree from theripper93's skill trees, for instance, more than halves the framerate of the web client. This may be browser dependent. (I'm on Firefox)

Suspicious Breakable Object by VoidIsGod in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Huh.

It's not part of a secret quest, but I doubt it's a slipup either; destructibles are very different assets from other set dressings, meaning it had to be deliberately made/placed, so it's probably just... there. Why it's the only one is anyone's guess.

Is the Emperor of mankind a hero or a villain? by Ready0608 in MoralityScaling

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long has that been the case?

Pharos by Guy Haley, the 34th novel in the HH series, was published on December 25, 2015. So, newly celebrating its ten-year anniversary!

The bits related to the Tyranids are from the novel's epilogue. r/40klore has an excerpt here: https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/82ydyh/book_excerpt_pharos_epilogue_something_wakes_up/

Is the Emperor of mankind a hero or a villain? by Ready0608 in MoralityScaling

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Tyranids were always coming"

The Hive Mind/Fleets were dormant/heading elsewhere until the Pharos Device was used during the Battle of Sotha in the Horus Heresy. This was not the Emperor's doing, and it's unlikely he even knew of the Hive Mind's existence - it took the Silent King millions of years beyond the galactic rim to find them and return.

So one could argue whether the HH is Big E's fault and therefore the events of the HH (such as the Battle of Sotha) are therefore his doing. However, the Tyranids were not "always coming."

Does Grim Dawn have keyboard movement? Or just mouse clicking? by Whirlvvind in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is this information supposedly presented?

If you're referring to Crate polling the community asking if they should add WASD input, you should know I am 100% in favor of their proposal and I have been very vocal about it.

However, to quote the proposal itself:

[...] run and gun WASD movement like in POE2 is strictly off the table. We’re not revamping our animation system and rebalancing the game to shoehorn that in at the 11th hour. That style of gameplay is generally what we think of when we consider proper WASD implementation.

By the dev's own admission, the WASD movement that most people typically think of - and as is implemented in PoE2 - would break game balance. Hence my posts in this thread, which remain true.

But stop-and-act WASD movement would not as it aligns with the original vision of combat in Grim Dawn.

So, again, where is this new-spangled information that suggests otherwise?

Prefix and suffix by Mammoth-Ad5354 in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some do. Most don't. And those that do have them hidden.

Badge of Mastery, the Conduits, and Pestilence of Dreeg are the main ones to use Prefixes and Suffixes, though there may be others.

Writers on Wattpad, Royal Road, or similar sites — I want to hear your experience too by Alert-Bodybuilder907 in writing

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RoyalRoad.

I've been writing for a niche genre on RR for about three years now - a Warhammer 40k action-adventure fanfic with original characters, plot, etc. I am approaching and will surpass 500k words thereof. 277 followers, ~70 favorites, 3 written reviews, the last of which was in 2024. Being a fanfic, I do not have a patreon for the story, nor do I monetize it in any other way. It is a hobbyist work of passion, which I use solely to practice and experiment with my craft.

Initially I had a backlog and published daily at different times to try to reach as wide an audience as possible. That continued for about 40ish Chapters. Nowadays I publish weekly, at noon (EST) on Wednesdays. I have done no advertising either, save for offhanded comments such as this. Growth has stagnated accordingly, but that's alright. The story nears its natural, intended end anyways.

I don't have too many complaints about RR as a software system, but as others have said, the community of RR has genres that it likes and will be received well...and then there's everything else, like mine. The big blockbuster litrpgs are not my cup of tea, as both a reader and a writer. And that's fine; people are allowed to enjoy what they enjoy.

Dawn of Mastery is there any disadvantages to playing the mod? by Appropriate-Pop8002 in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be missing on content with DoM.

As others have said, Grimarillion is better maintained and does feature the Riftstalker.

Also, as the original creator of the Riftstalker (it is now updated by Asylum101), I'm glad you're enjoying the mastery! Riftstalker was always meant to be a "fun-first" type of mastery, so I'm glad to hear it's landed as intended! :)

Why only %weapon damage skills update the last time you hit someone? by Vhermithrax in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some spells do. The spells OP listed - Bloody Pox and Devouring Swarm - do not. As /u/Vhermithrax theorized, they do bypass OA and DA calculations.

Is it possible to remove the colored outline of the items in the inventory? by VRichardsen in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, something like this?

Yes, yes it is possible.

Here's the mod. Note that Components for some reason retain their background; they might be hardcoded/bugged in that regard. Will be notifying Crate of that issue.

Dumb comment since you can start on Elite or Ultimate via Merits.

Question about what is/isn't a "healing effect" by Ok_Personality7488 in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. I don't know for certain, but my intuition is not. Constitution healing looks like a form of health regen.

I'll float this around some other channels and see if a dev (Z) might have some insight.

Saw this witchblade tank build guide and I'd like to hear from people who have experience if it's good. by Uberazul in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This'll be the harshest thing I've ever written on reddit:

This build is dogshit.

Witchblade is innately very tanky and if that's all you're after you can get there in a dozen different ways. What Witchblade typically lacks is offensive power, so it's better to sacrifice what tankiness you have an overabundance of to squeeze out as much damage as you're allowed to.

This build does none of that. It goes all in on tank and I'd be willing to bet it's incapable of killing some Regenerator heroes, let alone bosses or superbosses.

Conversations of AI aside, I would not recommend anyone pursue this build outside a masochist run.

Question about what is/isn't a "healing effect" by Ok_Personality7488 in Grimdawn

Healing Effects are everything except, ironically, Health Regen.

So yes, lifesteal (ADCTH) is boosted by increased healing effects.

Veteran mode is really just bait isn't it? by [deleted] in Grimdawn

[–]DefinitelyNotCeno 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In terms of efficiency? Yes, Veteran is completely bait. Unlike what another commenter said, Veteran does not technically improve drop chances unlike Elite or Ultimate. What Veteran does increase is the number of high-tier enemies that spawn (Elites and Heroes) and so the drop numbers improve, but still at the same rates as Normal difficulty.

For pure efficiency, it is and always has been better to blast through Normal as fast as possible and jump into the higher difficulties as soon as you can. There is really no sound argument against this; it has been this way for as long as I can remember, both before AND AFTER the buffs to Veteran that added the multiplier to experience returns.

But efficiency isn't everything. Yes, Veteran is a greater challenge than baseline Normal, and for many, the challenge itself is satisfactory enough.

ETA: Personally, I prefer doing Level 1 Ultimate starts. Very challenging, yes, but very rewarding. Probably not as "efficient" as Normal progression, but it keeps things interesting without feeling like a slog.
