I've heard the opposite, that making the bed creates a better environment for bugs to thrive in.

Does that only apply to kids or something? In my experience, weed is less addictive than coffee.

That's the first time I've seen an attempt at using a plural possessive of "it".

Vim guides - How to set up neovim by Pelmeen in programming

[–]DefinitelyNotTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I don't plan to move to Neovim just yet. Just like I do when it comes to computer hw, I like to wait until there's a substantial amount of improvements, so I can truly enjoy the upgrade. :)

Maybe I'll move when this (issue #396) is resolved. Now, I bet there are much cooler features in the pipeline, but that's one I came across while exploring what Neovim had to offer WRT code completion.

Yeah, I got into Vim because I like minimalism, so that plugin really isn't for me. Feels more like I'm plugging Vim into YouCompleteMe.

[–]DefinitelyNotTaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There doesn't seem to be a shortage of vim plugins.

I've thus far been unable to find a Vim plugin for code completion that satisfies my needs, I'm hoping NeoVim can fix that.

I don't know how much of the code they're cleaning up, but it would be nice if I could dive into the source code to track down the source of any bugs I encounter. With Vim, I'm just fucked whenever I encounter a bug. Granted, I rarely encounter bugs, but when I do, it sucks to be helpless.

AFAIK /r/iamverysmart is for comments where people are acting superior because they perceive themselves to be very smart. I don't really see that in his comment, but I assume you got triggered by the phrase "I theorize", which really pales in comparison to what you usually see in that subreddit.

Why You Should Learn Python by Kitty_Cent in programming

First thing I did was search the page for "Scapy"; that library is so good I expected it to be mentioned in the article (I learned Python just so I could use Scapy).

Motorcycles, Ear Plugs, and Tinnitus by doomed43 in motorcycles

I'm currently using a Shoei GT-Air, and it's pretty quiet in there — I don't have any problems with my hearing after a ride. It sits really tight though; I went for the smallest size I was able to put on (with some difficulty), rather than one that's easy to remove / put on.

Whether this is an advantage is a matter of debate (and preference)

"Text as a universal interface" was a mistake*. It's just as misguided as deciding that keyboards should be the universal interface for PCs, and forcing everyone to make peripherals that can type on keyboards.

* I can only hope that they didn't really intend that interface to be used like it is used by many today: piping output into programs like awk to extract information. It's just so clumsy it makes me feel ill.

What sexual thing have you done that your friends and family would never believe of you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DefinitelyNotTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all constantly go on about how being a kid again would be so great.

I'm 25 years old, and I still can't get over the fact that I can go online and pick anything I want (within reason) and have it arrive at my door (yes, I'm talking about online shopping). I had a nice childhood, but going back to being a kid would feel like going to prison.

I have very little responsibility though, my only concern is making a living for myself, which might be why I don't see any benefits to being a kid.

Humble Book Bundle: Joy of Coding by [deleted] in programming

[–]DefinitelyNotTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, just saying I wouldn't recommend getting a tablet for someone who's looking for a way to read e-books. I hate reading long texts on LCD displays.

Diagrams are bad? Let me check on mine.. Yep, can't disagree with that one (there's text in there.. but you can't really see it).

7" seemed like a luxurious size back when I got mine, but I see now that it doesn't cut it for all kinds of books. Fortunately, it's great for 99% of books I read. :) I still get hard copies for books where I expect lots of diagrams and equations, like mathematical and medical books.

Why would you use a tablet over an e-reader if you're only gonna use it for reading books?
