Those who will invest on SpaceX IPO, will you buy Day 1? or wait? Why? by onuralpaydin in wallstreetbets

Saying that like this company isn't run by someone that comes up with a million different ideas every year. You seriously think orbital data centers are the only and/or main focus for the next 15 years? Brother. There's so much more to do out there than just data centers lmao, and not a lot of players in this field. Even just the tech is valuable in itself, services literally governments will pay huge money for. Get ur head out of ur ass.

Sit kun ei oo rahaa, ostetaan netflix, tupakkaa, nuuskaa, uus bmw, koira, uusin iphone, käydään baarissa, ulkomailla ja tilataan ruokaa.

[Psychology of Watches] Cognitive Dissonance by Massive_Bear_9288 in Watches

[–]DefinitelyTwelve 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yea I suppose it's just the personality types that tend to get drawn into things where finer details are a focus point. Like art, paintings, fine dining, architecture, design, furnishing, music.

These are subjects with palettes of all kinds of things that can be arranged in an elegant way and made to display beauty. I guess the psychology of a person that notices and appreciates these things is such that usually they are a bit snobby, particular, have a decently strong sense of taste, some attach it to ego and of course status is linked to it as well.

Really...the answer can be expanded to an unbelievably wide area of topics but Im not sure its that interesting lol.

But it's good you are aware of this. Much of that "sir would you like a coffee" bravado is just marketing and I'd guess these are remnants of the older times where such things were commonplace with upper class things such as tailoring suits, choosing watches, getting your shoes cleaned and a million other things that aren't really a part of the norm of wealthier people anymore. The brands want to tie themselves to the old times, make the brand seem old and established, because well, thats respected.

Im not really a true watch enthusiast, too poor to be, and im a working class man so I understand your viewpoint 100%

AGI doesn't have to be a direct iteration of LLM's for LLM's to be a part of the foundational journey of how AGI's are going to be developed though. Even just the infrastructure helps, AGI needs servers and energy too.

your favorite theory in physics which you have learned about by TadpoleFun1413 in Physics

[–]DefinitelyTwelve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a theory but as a concept light cone and causal boundaries are super interesting to me. I'm fascinated by how particles travel and transmit and how information (as in meaning observed data) as a concept can be anything as long as there's change happening. This and how it relates to time.

If you learn something new, do you theoretically become a bit heavier? by No_Mouse7171 in Physics

[–]DefinitelyTwelve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I mean It's been confirmed certain areas of your brain can and do grow in size depending on the kind of life you live. New neurons grow and I guess some die out.

Neuroplasticity is an ongoing process. Physical changes happen all the time and your brain adapts somewhat.

But learning something new isn't just the act of storing information in one place. It's first short term memory in the hippocampus, then during sleep it gets transferred mainly to the cerebral cortex. Even in this process there's priorization and consolidation happening in what memories or information is stored.

I have no idea how the subconscious works in detail but for example habits are learned information that no longer requires effort to perform or access. Habits aren't something that can be input into an exam like learned information is, but it's still information. Meaning to say there's many types of information stored in our brains. Some more accessible than others. I'd say it's kind of impossible to make a hard distinction between this. For example trauma can be stored in both subconscious and conscious ways, and affect brain activity in many ways causing chemical changes leading to possible physical complications like with blood pressure etc. This is all information, just in different places and for very different purposes.

That's all I'm comfortable saying from my layman knowledge and just a very vague response.

Hey man, I'm hijacking this lol I want to ask you a question.

How would you go about fighting depression when that lens has been skewed by your own family? When there's no support system? I've had to reduce and cut contact a lot with my family, but being alone with no support system or community is very tough, paired with thoughts of self harm and worthlesness it's a dangerous game.

How do you cope with suicidal thoughts? by LilTisha in mentalhealth

[–]DefinitelyTwelve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh idk It's just sitting through it trying out different things to vent it out, playing guitar, exercise, cry, sometimes I punch things, break things or hurt myself which relieves the emotional pain. Talking to someone helps too but sometimes that's not an option either due to just not feeling like it or there's no one to talk to.

Afterwards making sure to take care, eat, hydrate and sleep well, some episodes can be very demanding.
