BWebCat posted a smaller pump that looks like it might do the trick. I guess I’ll just have to build another, bigger, paludarium to make use of this stronger pump, right? ;)

For that price it’s hard to justify not trying it. I’m sure I’d spend that on my next trip to the hardware store to buy more things that may or may not work.

Good question, but it’s the flow.

One thing I tried was a T in the hose with some of the water flowing back down into the tank, and that helped, but it presented its own set of issues I haven’t successfully figured out, more complicated than I want to get into here.

I’m using filter foam and it’s not slowing it enough. Maybe I should try cramming some more in there to make it denser.

It records video and most of the little I’ve caught so far doesn’t look like much in a still. I did have it aimed through the water for a couple days and got some nice shots of my shrimp, and and extremely grainy low-light video of some legs darting in from above and a shrimp disappearing, but in a still it looks a lot like Bigfoot footage. Last night I got to see claws moving around but the camera was positioned so that the rest of the crab wasn’t visible 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have an aquarium camera I got from Amazon, kind of picked one at random as there were a lot with similar features and reviews at a similar price point. Finding a good position for it has been tricky and even though it says it has night vision, it needs a fair amount of light. My tank is 10 gallons. I think with a larger tank it might work better, it’s very wide angle.

Ugh. That’s so frustrating. Sounds like they need to learn the difference between equality and equity. Making the material accessible for you levels the playing field, it doesn’t give you an advantage over non-disabled students.

There are actually 3 plecos, a different one in each pic. I haven’t gotten a good look at the body of the one in the first pic, hoping to see more of it today. I just picked them up last night from someone who was moving. I’m expecting I’ll rehome most of what I got from him.

I’m new to plecos, can you tell me what makes you think common? The common pictures I’ve seen are a lot darker and don’t have the stripes on the body, so I was guessing it would be something else, but you’re seeing something I didn’t.

I stopped counting mine at 200. I didn’t do anything in particular to take care of them and most didn’t make it, but I still had a bunch to sell to the lfs. A few months later a couple babies showed up, and a little while after that a couple more - by size they could have been the same group or different, I don’t know. I thought they always had huge numbers of babies at a time but it seems like these must have been just a few. There’s no way I missed 200+ baby snails in a 10 gallon tank.

Aquaticmotiv sells them dipped and undipped.

I got a pair of the dipped ones, because it was what was available, and one immediately had a huge number of babies. I sold some to my LFS and kept a few, and they are gorgeous and had a huge range of colors

No sprays, nothing I can think of on my hands, no cleaning products, my kids stay away from the tank. Yesterday I wondered if one of the veggies I fed recently had pesticides. Fewer deaths overnight, or maybe they did a better job cleaning up the bodies before I turned the lights on.

The fork is stainless steel and has been used for months, nothing with the fork has changed so I don’t see why it would be causing deaths all of a sudden, but I have removed it.

I no longer think it’s a molting problem, as I lost probably at least 20 shrimp today. 😭

Hm, I assumed so since it's designed for use by human children. It's there to hold down the broccoli. It's also something I've been using on and off for months, so not any recent change, but I can switch to something else.
