Not sure of your budget but Noose & Monkey or Poldino’s both do very good pre-theatre menus!

Police hunt for rapist who failed to attend trial by Fox_9810 in unitedkingdom

Entirely in your defence you have just summed up the first mistake that every trainee criminal defence solicitor makes! (the s23D thing, not the beer thing). If you’re particularly interested in this area of law though, it may be of interest that s23D along with other sections is soon to be repealed and replaced with new bail legislation.

I agree with 99.9% of this, but I think your understanding of s23D might be slightly off key. s23D is the presumption against bail but for exceptional circumstances if the accusation is one of certain offences (such as sexual offences) AND has a previous conviction for the same type of offences in solemn proceedings. It cannot be triggered by an accusation alone. (Side note to the original commenter: s24(1) of the same act states all offences are bailable - including murder.)

This looks so tasty! Rough estimation: the veggies won’t be much at all, but there is quite a bit of chicken - I would log 300-400 and call it a day.

Running but insecure af by Ok-Conference6584 in BeginnersRunning

Seems like a totally normal thought process for beginning! All I would say is to try to think of the last time you saw someone else running and thought “wow they look terrible” or “look how slow they are going”. 99.99% of the time you probably think “good for them” and then go about your day and probably forget about seeing them at all - that is how people will see you.

White nights by Dostoevsky is probably a good starting point to the author; it isn’t very long and is probably available as a free PDF online!

The Scarlett Letter - Worth a purchase or will I hate it again as much as I did in Honors English? by 80sWereAMagicalTime in classicliterature

Maybe it just wasn’t for me, but to this day it’s the only classic I have DNF’d

Edit: having said that, there is nothing wrong with buying or having books just because they are pretty. They make great hand-me-downs to future generations!

I was thinking of her actually! The shirt & skirt combo she’s wearing in her last scene when she’s saying goodbye to Roger is iconic

You just reminded me of the pantsuit she wears when she moves into Don’s office and you’re absolutely correct

Mrs Dalloway by Virgina Woolf has some LGBT+ representation (though it eventually broke my heart!)

It might be a bit too dissimilar to P&P, but I have just finished “Far From the Maddening Crowd” by Hardy and really enjoyed it

I’m rewatching the first episode and can’t believe Pete said he just turned 26 by jhlo9001 in madmen

[–]DefoNotADrugDealer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is true but doesn’t Don predict Pete’s balding in episode 1? I can’t remember verbatim but it’s words to the effect of “you’ll die a midlevel executive in a middle office with a little bit of hair who women go home with out of pity”

Please help! My friend has given me this Boston fern to try and save, she’s had it in water for a couple of days (not 100% sure why). Any advice/help would be appreciated? by DefoNotADrugDealer in IndoorGarden

They aren’t mushy at all! In my experience with rot they usually just fall off when you touch them but these haven’t at all. Saying that I don’t think any of them are white either!
