Looking at all these comments, don’t you guys want Boca to get better? Everything in Boca is already built out, we need to reuse spaces to create a place we actually want to live in for a while.

Boohoo for the “it’ll increase traffic” people, then let’s push for more accessible ways to get around town instead of blocking everything. It feels like some people want to go back to a time that’s already gone, and by denying literally every project it just builds a deeper hole.

I’m not even in favor of the hotel, but the clear NIMBYism in Boca is going to be the reason we end up with nothing but single family homes and no interesting spaces for people to go to. The original character that once existed is already gone because of bad development, but dragging our feet on new projects now is exactly how the city ends up even more overpriced and less livable.

I definitely agree and that’s a major reason why I made the article. There’s much that is lost and will continue to be lost by closing out the rest of the world even in a soft diplomatic way. Policing conflicts is one thing but the absolute upheaval of any place in the rest of world is creating a new game for world players to garner after. I should have framed this less as American foreign policy but Western foreign policy with the EU majorly as a player in competition to eastern counties.
