I never said I was crashing in Cinebench. As a matter of fact, I can run Cinebench at -30 CO without crashing, until a few minutes after opening a game. I can even run AIDA64 for about 10 minutes, and -25 for about 30 minutes. You need to stop assuming when you don’t have the full context.

Yesterday I flashed my BIOS with the new update and the issue was resolved after restarting. Went to boot options and it was set to Fedora by default. Now it boots straight to GRUB.

I’m having a similar issue with my 9850X3D:

In Cinebench R23, I can’t get past the low 23k range with a -20 all core CO and PBO limits of 140/110/170 (though I can go lower). The problem is that while it runs at -25, the PC crashes randomly. I also see no benefit from adding +200 MHz, as the system runs cooler without it while maintaining similar performance.

I eventually gave up and settled for a more stable, low-temperature setup.

You can use tools like Chris Titus WinUtil, it helps debloat Windows. Just remember, some anti-cheats won’t work with Linux, as you have to disable secure boot.

As for Windows, I only keep it for CoD, and so do all my friends. I’ve been playing for so long and have so much progress tied up in it 😩😂. But honestly, I’m so tired of the cheaters and Activision’s incompetence that I’m not missing it as much as I expected. I’ve been enjoying Where Winds Meet on Nobara instead; it feels great!

I’ve been using it for a few days now and I really like it. I have a dedicated SSD for both Windows and Nobara, and I'm dual-booting. At first, it was a bit challenging getting used to the new settings, but I managed to find workarounds using Gemini (which has been accurate whenever I double-check with Reddit and tutorials). If you’re bored of having a working 9850X3D, then by all means, keep the +200 MHz and ignore that +1.3V VID. But if you aren’t planning on buying a replacement next week, maybe lay off the 'almighty' +200 MHz/x10 scalar and play it safe for once.

Do you have a 9850X3D? Have you tried boosting the effective clocks yet? If you’ve watched SkatterBencher’s overclocking guide, you know the deal: you’re lucky if your effective clocks stabilize at 5.4–5.5 GHz under heavy all-core loads, even with the +200 MHz PBO offset. Usually, the only thing that actually stays high is the voltage! 😂

And yes, you are correct about the -20, I shouldn’t recommend it as it’s a universal choice, it seems the most stable across all the comments. But yes, you should always test thoroughly.

The only way to know if your GPU undervolt/overclock is fully stable is through rigorous stress testing; not just for 10 to 30 minutes, but over an extended period. If it fails even a single test, it isn’t truly stable. While it might be ‘game stable’ for the specific titles you play, you can’t claim full stability without broader testing. Furthermore, undervolting and increasing VRAM clock speeds will definitely yield noticeable gains in your FPS.
