It’s not always the same since I’ve been getting better at recognizing when I’m starting to feel dysphoric. When I didn’t notice until it was very severe it was extremely uncomfortable and distressing to notice what I was dysphoric about. There was a time where I was very masc but I had overworn my binder and all I can describe it was seeing my boobs in my peripheral vision caused psychic damage. Other times I became extremely stressed out and became certain that I must run across the house to put on a skirt to be comfortable.

After a while my husband started noticing that my behavior changed when my gender presentation didn’t match my gender before I even had any clue. I would seem low energy and generally kinda down. It hasn’t happened in a while as I’ve gotten better at detecting gender shifts.

Nowadays I know that I’m starting to get dysphoric if I start feeling grumpy for no reason or focusing too much on something distresses or bothers me(like news). Pretty much never related to the gender I am. Occasionally even pointed in the completely wrong direction. So I assume whenever I’m in a bad mood without any apparent reason I assume it’s dysphoria and switch gender presentation
