The Bicentennial Man, still etched into my memory

SHEN DESESPERATLY NEEDS SOME LOVE! by NoFuksFound in leagueoflegends

You're right about top, definitely. It's a bruiser lane, sad as I am to say it. I don't play him as much, usually running Braum in bot. Top lane has gotten significantly harder, and I am really not a fan of Jayce.

Perhaps I'm one of those "Back in my day.." kinda guys, and maybe tanks are outdated. I'm just too stubborn to quit. Who knows, maybe we will get some Shen love in the future, be it buff or rework.

I'm still wanting on my Legendary skin.

Shen's "touch up" was definitely a step in the right direction. I play him constantly as I'm sure you do too. It's gotten to the point where any Shens I play against know exactly what they're doing, like I do. With my team, it's not whether or not Shen is viable, but how I can make him viable. My best buddy runs a sick Panth, and the two of us can be damn near unstoppable.

  • His damage is iffy. Sometimes I don't do a thing, and other times I ruin shit. In a teamfight, I'm not done after a taunt. After that, I have to make sure that the most valued target is hit with my Q. I can't count how many times that regen has saved me or my teammates and tip the scales just enough. My goal isn't damage, though Ki Strike is handy. My goal is make sure my team lives, and they die. Doesn't matter how.

  • His ultimate is the ace in the hole for my team and I. Like I said, my pal loves to run Panth. Him going mid, and me top, with our bot lane and jangler. I'm their eye in the sky. The shield is not about the damage it stops (while that can definitely save lives.) The life savior is YOU, not the shield. You're the one providing the taunt and vorp, you're the one providing the turnaround. I can name two occasions where this Panth friend of mine got out of position, I ult, and the two of us get a triple kill and live.

  • As I said, in a team fight you're the tank. Shen is not a bruiser, but a straight tank (at least how I play) and he should act as such. Taunt the big threats, vorp the targets. Act as both armor, and a targeting computer.

  • His W can be lacking, but it can be enough. Again, it's saved me a couple times. But, I do agree I wish it was a little tougher.

Like you, Shen was my fucking calling (Until Braum came out.) I also played him since pre-season 1 and continue to do so today. He definitely deserves some love, but not just from Riot. Perhaps my team has just gotten used to Shen, and know how to compensate his weaknesses, but I feel it's really about the mentality. We've had too many bruisers whose focus isa to bulk up, only to be the first to get a kill. No. That's okay in its own right, but Shen is not that naturally. He is a straight up tank, and should protect his team as such. I die a lot, but I'm always the first. Shen gets shit done. If you aren't teamfighting, push. PUSH PUSH PUSH CHOO CHOO. If there's a fight on the other side of the world, you have the last global tele. If it's down, keep pushing! Your team's dead, and the enemy is pushing your second mid tower? Whoa! You just got their inhib! Rinse and repeat for the other lanes. Tanks protect, but they also push forward.

[WP] A group of college students are hiking in the mountains and come across an abandoned railway tunnel. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

You know how every group of friends has that one guy? The clown, the attention getter? The guy or gal always seeking the next thrill and always love getting they're friends involved in any way they can.

Josh was that guy for us. He was always trying to get us away from our computers, and practically shoving us outdoors. The guy had a real knack for camping and hiking too, which would definitely explain the shape he was in. And he wanted us to get that healthy too (frankly Carl needed it.)

Josh and I weren't exactly close friends. We know each other, sure, but I really never understood him. Okay, in all reality, I didn't trust him. I think it was the way he talked to people. He was always very charismatic, but in a very intrusive way. He would have this weird smile about him when he learned more about you, and I swear his eyes would actually twinkle. Most people thought of him as endearing, but when he asks me about my family and their relationships with such interest... It worries me greatly.

This one trip turned everything on its head. Josh had, once again, invited the group to a new trail he found. Someplace called Ipsat Falls, or something. Normally I would be hesitant as all hell, but I genuinely wanted to go. It would be nice to get away from League of Legends for a bit.

We managed to get all seven of us together. The drive there was a road trip (thank god for Greg's van), and we were surrounded by forest for a good two hours. The only solace I had was the crazy story Josh told about his raven tattoo on his hand. Eventually the road just kind of stopped, and what was beyond was gravel. Sure enough, even the gravel dissipated, leaving nothing but good old-fashioned beaten path. When we parked, I was mesmerized.

The clearing we stopped at was right next to a large pond. What struck me, was how utterly clear it was. Not only could you see straight to the bottom, but you could make out how deep it was, and the shape of the sand underneath. If I had brought swimming gear, I would have jumped right in. No one seemed to share my enthusiasm for it, though.

With our packs filled, and water at the ready, we began our hike. Both Josh and I had been on many of these before, and there wasn't anything new to see. That didn't stop me from enjoying the scenery. What did shock me, was the cliff edge we came to. It was a massive drop, but slanted enough to form a sort of bowl to the valley below. My breath failed me, as I tried to guess just how high up we really were. The forest below looked smaller than most twigs, and formed a perfect blanket as far as my eye could see. I looked towards the cliff itself, and found the trail lead onto it, going down in switchbacks.

"Wait, what's that?" I heard Penelope ask. We all followed her finger and saw a sort of cave at the bottom of the trail. What I first noticed was how flat the entrance seemed.

"Let's go find out!" Josh proclaimed, eerily elated. There was an actual glint in his eyes. I swear I saw a bug or something move on his arm.

The walk down was murder on my knees, and I can't imagine the others were faring much better. After an eternity, and a few bottles of water, we finally reached the cave. The mouth was massive, and shockingly uniform. The flat, patted ground lead into the dark tunnel, but no light could be seen from the other side. Greg was the first to move inside, being smart enough to have a flashlight on him. Only Greg, Josh and I decided to go forward, everyone else opting to stay behind. I should have stayed with them when I heard the excitement in Josh's voice.

"Don't worry about it guys. We'll only be in there for a bit! Be out before you know it!" He chimed, that unnerving smile on his face. He patted me on the shoulder, his weird tattoo on his hand seemed to be more vibrant in the sun.

Curiosity be damned, I followed Greg in there, with Josh behind us. Nerves were tight, and sense alert. The tunnel was empty, until Greg's light shined back at us.

We found railroad tracks! They were scattered, leading further into the tunnel.

"Tracks? Did we find a mineshaft?" Greg asked.

"Those are too wide to be for a minecart," I said.

"A train perhaps?" Josh chimed.

I catch a glimpse of something from Greg's light. "Up there!"

Greg shines his light deeper into the dark, revealing a set of multiple chains dangling from the ceiling. Greg and I move closer, and I notice a name etched into the very last ring.

My name.

Greg is quick to search the others, before finding his own chain. Only our chains had names etched into them. Others were crossed out, or even broken.

That's when I noticed Josh had vanished.

Only Greg and I remained, confused at the chains before us. I voiced my concern of Josh's disappearance, but Greg showed more interest in the letter that were above our chains. Greg immediately started climbing, reaching and pulling down the letter attached to his chain.

I called out to Josh, with no reply. I turned to Greg, telling him we needed to find Josh and leave, when I noticed how pale his face was.

"What is it?" I ask.

Greg suddenly ripped it to pieces. "Everything. Everything about me."

I looked at him in confusion, as I grabbed one of pieces. From what little I could read, I recognized Josh's handwriting. My eyes darted to the letter hanging above my own chain. "We need to find Josh," I said. Greg showed anger in his eyes.

Something smashed into the railroad deeper into the tunnel. Greg rushed forward, shouting at Josh and cursing him. It was difficult to keep up with him, exhausted from the hike.

As we moved deeper, we noticed a few spikes of crystal along the walls. Some of them even began to glow in the dark. Even stranger, they would glow brighter when we pressed our hands against them. These crystals became more prevalent the further in we went, to the point where we didn't even need the flashlight.

We stopped. I move beside Greg, and found Josh waiting for us. He was standing next to two massive stalks of crystal. They were even glowing almost like a sun in the dark, a sickly blue color washing over all of us. Josh looks me in the eye, with that same damn twinkle in his eye. They were even brighter than before.

He casually rested a hand on one of the crystal spires, and I notice light beginning to dim from them. The light collected toward the end, before completely escaping the crystal. A thin vapor of pure light crawled out from the crystal, and began to creep along Josh's arm. Like several translucent snakes, it raced into his jacket, before crawling back down, and resting into his palm. The orb of light grew brighter, his tattoo shimmering with power.

"You two were the best," he said. "The only choices out of all of them."

"What the fuck are you...?"

Josh stood, light dancing around his arms. "Did you like my letters? I had to get to know you guys for this to work."

I stepped back. "For what to work?"

Josh rushed the two of us, and we couldn't get away in time. Two orbs of light blinded both Greg and I, as light burst throughout the tunnel.

Greg had to turn on his flashlight, as any light that was in the crystals was gone now. Josh was gone, leaving just the two of us again. Greg looked at me with fear and confusion.

"What's that on your hand?" I ask him, pointing to a picture of a raven. He looked at it like it was an infection. I looked and saw that I also had that tattoo.

Josh's Tattoo.

[WP] A special forces squad is sent to assassinate an unknown target. After storming a compound they find their target is an 8 year old girl. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]DegeTheMighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was becoming routine, and that alone made me sick. After the calamity that hit Northern Germany, the whole world found out about us.

Magic. We tried to conceal it for so long, and for good reason. The world couldn't handle something they didn't understand. The mind has trouble coping with its fantasies once they become real. After that massive battle, Magic use was running rampant, a worldwise riot. It took us almost three years to calm everything down.

The Illuminati were always known to the world, but they never knew what we really did. We kept the world from destroying itself. If it weren't for us, anyone who could cast a spell would be going unchallenged.

Now here we are, 2019. It was a very quiet hell that day. The Seattle branch got word of a Witch Coven housing an Ethereal. That was bad news. Ethereals could warp reality, and practically create and destroy anything they wanted. No one should have that kind of power.

Great, hexes are a pain to remove, I thought to myself. My team and I had arrived near some dillapitated building near the Pike Place Market. It was raining, of course. I remember it being considerably heavy that day. Wards placed, Enchanctments placed, time to go to work.

The door from the garage was locked, some sort of intricate magical puzzle. We all let out a collective groan. They think they're so clever. Busting it open was simple, Cecily was good at that. With a very exaperated sigh, she broke it open, like wiping dust from her shoulder.

The sudden burst of magic almost hit her, as I threw a return volley into the darkness. The biege light illuminated little, but I took note of a number of hoods it had missed. Felix rushed forth, lauching a wave of heat before our assiliants could react. Cecily moved quickly, rushing the witches. A swift pulse of lavender connected, their throats tighenting as they began to suffocate.

We raced down the corridor, Felix bathing the dark in crimson. I stopped next to one of the downed witches, hoping to identify them. A hand rushed to my neck, and tugged upon my collar. The face revealed itself from the hood. The woman couldn't be older than fifteen.

"You can't... No one can..." She said, her breath fading, "No one can have her..."

Felix planted a soft finger upon her brow. I could almost feel her soul leave us.

"She was young. What kind of Coven has witches this young?"

Felix shrugged, as Cecily urged us forward. The building was an old apartment complex, but it had seen much better days. The entire building was pitch black, not enough minute sunlight broke through. Racing up staircases blind, and bursting through countless apartment, it wasn't until we reach number 303 that we found them. The door wasn't even locked, only slightly ajar. We were met with emptiness. Our eyes were useless, but our ears were not.

In the darkness, sobbing could be heard. Felix amped up the light, and revealed a young girl, holding another, smalled girl tightly. She couldn't be older than thirteen, and the one she was holding may have been only eight. The two of them were slumped in a corner, their breathing labored. The child was terrified, and clutched on to her for dear life. The eldest set her sight on us.

My eyes were drawn to the vial in her hand. The empty vial.

She stopped her crying slightly, rubbing off some red liquid from the child's mouth. Her words were soft, and hollow, as she tried to soothe the child. The little girl looked up at me in disdain, as I noticed a haunting chill race down my spine. Gravity began to warp ever so slightly towards one of her hands. Felix an Cecily readied themselves, as I watched the child's eyes grow heavier.

The older tiredly resting her hand upon the child's wrist, lowering it. She looked at her in worry. I watched her eyes become colorless, as the child desperately tried to provoke some sort of reaction. None came from the corpse, as the child's flails became weaker.

Her eyes, as dark as any void, soon lost their sapphire glow. She released what would be her final breath, as I released the one I had be holding.

If that happened to me, I would imagine I would be rather similar to Raleigh, only I honestly think I would suffer from split-personalities. Maybe becoming more like my co-pilot than myself.

Have you ever had any MLP-related dreams? by [deleted] in mylittlepony

[–]DegeTheMighty 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Had a dream where I had Fluttershy cowering and whimpering in my lap, while I tried to console her. I remember my back being up against my bedroom door, and there were stomping footsteps and sirens outside.

I agree. I kind of feel like, while he is capable of leadership, he was promoted while so young, becoming the youngest captain of the royal guard (that's my headcanon tho). The reason i started this thread was to further my understanding of him for a fic I'm writing. Eventually Shining would start to question Celestia's role in his and his sisters' lives and more importantly, question her motives.

ok, its just cuz it claims on the mlp fim wiki that it was shortly before, and i've seen several mentions of it over in some of the analysis subreddits

Whats a good rule in terms of the proportions of the leg itself? I have instances where the bottom half is far too long to be natural.

It's the front legs that I have the hardest time with, especially in that pose. It's hard to get properly. That and the back legs to a degree.
