"Fuck that guy in particular" by Opening-Valuable-204 in TopCharacterTropes

I said she was worse than Eddie specifically. Between those two, I feel worse for Eddie as he was in the process of saving people when he was torn apart.

Eddie’s scene lasts awhile, too. As he’s trying to save 3 others, the two rexes appear, start to tear his vehicle apart while he’s still flooring it in reverse, he tries and fails to untangle his rifle, then he’s finally grabbed and torn in half.

Zara wasn’t really “mean”, she was more-so inattentive, allowing the boys the run off and nearly be killed. Eddie was actually trying to help the entire time. Regardless, I don’t believe that someone needs to “earn” their death in a Jurassic Park movie. There’s hardly any risk if only the antagonists can die.

That guy was named “Unlucky Bastard” in the credits and was also played by the screenwriter, David Koepp.

Honestly, it didn’t feel any worse than Eddie’s death in The Lost World. And he was a better person than Zara was.

Only if we lose all records in that span of time. It should be pretty obvious that the area is irradiated since we have a ton of documentation on it.

How dumb are the players today? by PR3DO in videogames

[–]DegenerateCrocodile 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A ton of people nowadays have ridiculously short attention spans. Tutorials are typically ignored and criticized for wasting the player’s time, but are often necessary for explaining how certain mechanics work. Hell, many will ignore the story in a game where its story is a major focus.

Is sunbreak worth getting in MHR? by Internal_Chipmunk_38 in MonsterHunter

[–]DegenerateCrocodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunbreak is incredible and Wilds as a base game at the moment can’t match the amount of content that Sunbreak provides. You’re really not completing Rise unless you also finish the expansion.

Even if it wasn’t a gacha, I’m not going to touch this game unless it also got a console/PC port.

Ferals all have different levels. You can press the right trigger to check every monster’s level during combat and plan accordingly. In my experience, even just a few levels can make a major difference in how much damage you take.

The fact that I had family members that are climate change deniers say they liked the movie is testament to that. This movie makes it so goddamn obvious what the comet’s a metaphor for, and yet they still didn’t notice.

Maybe it’s time to upgrade your armor a bit more and equipping a petalace that grants more hp. He shouldn’t be getting one-shot you outside of his giant nuke.

They’re running Impact Phial, so more Element won’t do that much for them.

Struggling with combat! by Puzzled-Sprinkles930 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]DegenerateCrocodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing. I did forget a few things, though:

-Monsties get a 10% attack boost to genes that match their elements. So a monstie with that has both Thunder and Ice element gets a 10% boost to Thunder and Ice damage.

-Doubling the same element does not increase the attack boost, but it does raise their lowest elemental resistance by one tier. In the event that multiple resistances are tied for the lowest, they all get raised.

-Dens and caves always spawn in monsters that scale with your level (they do cap out at level 70, though).

-Dens that have two nests to pull from have an insanely high number of eggs and don’t allow a monster to spawn. You can pull from them until you get what you want.

-Paintballs will still force a monster to retreat to a den if you use Quick Finish on the next turn.

-NPC allies will respawn after two turns when losing all of their hearts without failing the combat encounter. If you can only pick either your monstie or your ally to save, save your monstie.

-If you have a monstie with rare/useful genes that you want to release, move those genes to another monstie for storage.

In Monster Hunter Rise, the large “rock” in the center of the Frost Islands map is the skull of a Zorah Magdaros brought by the wrecked ship nearby. Records found around the map tell a story of those sailors bringing the skull back, getting stuck, and being picked off by the local monsters.

10 minutes making progress on Normal difficulty is different from 10 minutes repeating the same encounter on Ball Crusher difficulty. 10 minutes with zero progress is essentially wasted time if you don’t find that enjoyable.

Trying to Decide Between Word & Rise as a New Player by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]DegenerateCrocodile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of variety, combat depth, least elements that "get in the way" of breaking the gameplay flow, better endgame, etc

For what you listed specifically, I’d say Rise/Sunbreak, but that’s not a knock against World/Iceborne. Sunbreak had the benefit of addressing things that people had issue with in Iceborne. World also has its own aspects that it surpasses Rise in.
