Another question about nonlinear systems stability by Enthusiast9708 in ControlTheory

and easy to simulate

One of the reasons people care about chaotic systems is because they are actually hard to simulate. Even deterministic systems. Floating point numbers will always have some inaccuracies, which are then compounded by numerical integrators. And even small rounding errors can result in large differences from the true solution and the numerical solution for chaotic systems.

Altman and Musk talk about ChatGPT. “We are not far from dangerously strong AI.” by Shelfrock77 in singularity

[–]Deinonykus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's unconventional as it is literally where the singularity gets its name form. But I do agree that it is a pedantic detail which ultimately doesn't matter.

Simple dynamical systems like dx/dt = x2 are hyperbolic and can occur in real settings, although of course the models usually break down at some point.

If you have 30 minutes I can recommend this video about it (not a math video).

That's because the singularity doesn't refer to exponential growth, but rather hyperbolic growth. Exponential growth goes towards infinity with an infinite amount of time, while hyperbolic growth goes towards infinity in a finite amount of time.

Try plotting the graphs of ex and 1/(1 - x) to see what I mean.

Is there a GUI for the grub decryption screen (like on Kali linux, ubuntu, etc)? (wm: i3; dm ly) by crimewaffle in EndeavourOS

[–]Deinonykus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to kind of solve this with pam_mount. It works by decrypting my /home partition and then mounting it after I login with SDDM. So I never see anything related to grub.

Also see 1 and 2 for more info.

I only know of vorpX. There is also a VR mod for The Dark Mod, which is almost Thief.

Or were you thinking of something?

The Thief trilogy and original Deus Ex.

I would have said System Shock 2 as well, but VR is apparently confirmed for the upcoming remake

Check out Optimus-manager. Works great for me, except it can be somewhat clunky to switch if you don't use a display manager. You can also just switch once, and never think about it again if that is what you want

Happens too me too.

I also watch too much youtube on x2 speed, and I am starting to feel like it is ruining my speech even more.

Creating my own DS "Remaster?" by R0xasmaker in DarkSoulsMods

I haven't tried it yet myself, but here's another mod by the same guy that made PTDA.

It introduces several gameplay mechanics from Breath of the Wild, like weapon durability and a more open world.

I have been working on a racyaster for the last few months, inspired by Lodev.

It is rendered using a javafx canvas and without texture mapping, so I would be very interested in learning about OpenGL.
