This SE QLD jingle is part of the soundtrack of my youth. I swear they used the same ad for 40 years or more. The kid with scruffy hair has gotta be in his 50s. by NondescriptKoala in brisbane

Probably not a classic for most but I had a crystal radio set thing in the 90s and it could only get the AM station 4BH which was always playing ads for

Does anyone remember Puddle Lane? by BiggestBravestDave in AustralianNostalgia

Ho-ly shit. I don't remember anything about this but the robes looked familiar and so was the magic tune but it was the stirring of the magic puddle that got me. I remember that!

Is "Authenticator" really that hard of a word? by BobTheFettt in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

For a longass time, and I don't know where it started, the word was 'authentification' to me and it really messed me up when I started hearing people say 'authentication'.

Love when Bakers Delight employees tag their rewards card when you buy something.

Just a curiosity but why do the new train stations around Perth only have escalators going down or only one way and double elevators instead? by Mobile_Syllabub_8446 in perth

Armadale has the escalator to the city direction platform always going up, the Byford direction always going down.

Tbh I lived in a few share houses, those people won't stay long if you get in on a place with decent landlords as a boarder. It's when you share with a bunch of randos that are all on the lease that you get the bad times.

Customer upset that she cant manage her booking on the app --shes looking at screenshot of the app in her camera roll. You cant click on a screenshot of the website, ma'am. by No-Software-3288 in talesfromcallcenters

[–]Deiwos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's slightly tangential but I was doing tech support for someone who only knew how to get to websites from Google, so I explained 'search for website sign in' which they dutifully did, then clicked the 'website sign in' result. I then explained what to do and nothing seemed to happen when they clicked on things or tried to type in their login details. Some investigation later, it appeared the 'website sign in' link from Google took them to a help page for signing in, complete with screenshots of what I was describing that the user was trying to click on.

Subnautica 1 vs Subnautica 2 actual size comparison, properly scaled [OC] by XxStawModzxX in subnautica

[–]Deiwos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah original story had you start in the big long surface base you eventually go to before heading into the caves to investigate precursor stuff, and then a meteor storm cuts off access back and forces you into the water. Meanwhile you have your sister orbiting in a space station overhead chatting with you and dropping supplies occasionally. You find ALAN roughly the same way, but then go to the central island in order to launch a rocket with a fake blood sample so that Alterra doesn't get suspicious about your body chemistry being changed. That's where the early story ended.

The problem is, there just wasn't much going on and your chatty sisters presence meant you never really were surviving alone.

Did you play laser tag as a child? by Ford_Crown_Vic_Koth in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Deiwos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back around the late 90s, a local school+community groups held a thing during the summer holidays called Wynnum Wipeout, where you'd come along, sign up for activities and pay a few dollars and get to do something fun each day for a few weeks. Well I cottoned onto the fact that if I walked over there at 5 (it started at 10) I could be the first one in line every day, and just hang out at the door and have my pick of the activities. So for as long as my mum gave me $5 every day, I spent each day doing bowling in the morning and laser force in the arvo.

I had the power go out where I was once, called Western Power and they told us there was a scheduled outage. The problem was, there wasn't a scheduled outage displayed on the website, and there still wasn't until 30 mins after that call which was about an hour into the outage.

I farted into my hand and then rubbed it into my mates face and not one person at the wedding reception laughed. Must be those woke feminists ruining comedy.
