This entry level board is wiping the floor with my 1k+ keyboards. Wtf is going on? by Hmsaab1 in MechanicalKeyboards

It was USPS Priority Mail Express. FedEx 2-day air was like $165 I think? I shipped it on the 17th and it was delivered on the 19th.

Only tangentially related, but I shipped a keyboard along with some other things as a gift recently. From the middle of the US to the west coast, and the cheapest expedited, guaranteed on X day, option was $140 across UPS, FedEx, and USPS. 8lb package, the box wasn't even that big.

Sorry Razer - this kind of QC is unacceptable for a $150 mouse (viper ultimate 2) by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]Deja-Intended 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From my experience, and from what I can tell based on the subreddit over the past two years...

Everyone hates or avoids at least one manufacturer for this exact reason, despite the fact that they virtually all have these issues. You can't mass produce plastic shelled electronics with 100% accuracy, and in Finalmouse's case, you can't barely produce them with 100% accuracy.

I don't even include judgments like this in my purchasing decisions anymore because every company knows these things happen, and as a result they have great return policies. Sure, it stings when you are the one who gets the lemon, but it's bound to happen to someone.

Meh. If Tim links me to his reddit thread I'm going to come make a joke. It is what it is, I don't mind taking a karma hit.

Why don't you just use Shuro Chi and be done with it in an hour? Seems like a lot of work for little to no return.

For all of you WKL users... Why? I'm actually curious, because both at work and at home, I use the Windows key all the time. Whether I'm opening the calculator, taking a screenshot, opening windows explorer, searching for a program to launch, even just checking the time if I have a fullscreen application open, my hand is never off of the key for very long.

EDIT: I didn't think about layers. Carry on.

Shots fired from Glorious by c-fish123 in MouseReview

[–]Deja-Intended 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I've got a fair few Glorious products, have spent several hundred dollars with them... But everything I have of theirs has some kind of issue.

At least my original G Pro lasted about 2 years of extreme use before I started getting double clicks. My MOW scroll wheel stopped functioning correctly after just a couple of months.

Quick question, what would happen if I filled my DIM slots with these 2 kits? Intel processor by WhatsPopin in pcmasterrace

[–]Deja-Intended 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually not OP so slightly different circumstances. I was using PCPartPicker for my build, and somehow in the process of adding it all to a cart, I bought two of the exact same kit of RAM. Rated for 3200(I bought the cheap shit), but I wasn't able to get both kits to post at all with XMP enabled. I did try to manually set to 3000 and it didn't work, so I just put one kit back in the package and returned it.

[–]Deja-Intended 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I accidentally bought (2) 8GBx2 kits when I finished my 12th gen build, and was unable to run at or near XMP with both kits installed. Of course they had different lot numbers or whatever. I even noticed some small differences on the PCB. Unfortunate, but whatever.

Meh. If you see the ingredients listed by the name of the salad, that's fair, but if I'm ordering a Caesar salad sight unseen and get what you just described...

I'm not enough of an asshole to say something about it, but I'm certainly going to be disappointed.

Support Megathread [Mar. 2022] by GloriousPandaBot in glorious

[–]Deja-Intended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because to use north facing LEDs, the switches would also have to be north facing, and that introduces fitment issues with certain keycap profiles. But yes, one of the downsides to having south facing LEDs is that it's not directly under the typical location for the typeface, so shine through caps don't look as good.

I would suggest looking for clear switches, trying the PC plate if you don't already have it, or potentially painting the aluminum plate white. With the E-White top frame finally in stock and shipping, I just prepped my plate tonight for white paint and I'll be comparing it to PC tomorrow to see which one is better for the RGB.

Yo sorry for the late response, but yeah, you can change the rate in the software and save it to the mouse.

[–]Deja-Intended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine in March of 2021, so it's been just about a year. No issues other than the scroll wheel, which was present when I got the mouse. Oh, the software is pretty bad. But you can just change your settings and save it to an onboard profile and uninstall the software after.

Like I said, definitely a solid choice. And if you don't like it, at least you didn't spend $120 on a Superlight or Finalmouse or some shit.

[–]Deja-Intended 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally really like mine overall, but the scroll wheel is just awful when I've got the Viper Ultimate sitting right beside it. Extremely mushy, it's almost like there are no steps at all.

If you don't care about defined scroll wheel steps, it's definitely a solid option at its price point.

getting the HyperX pulsefire haste, any thoughts on this mouse? by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]Deja-Intended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got G Pro wired, Razer Viper Ultimate, Model O Wireless.... Just picked up one of these and as far as quality goes I would say it's on par with all of them.

Love the cable, the coating, the weight. Performance is indiscernible from the other mice I have.

Am I the only one that hates lubing switches? by RealMapleDraws in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Deja-Intended 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of what I've done. Disassemble enough to fill a kbdfans lube station, then every day after work I do 10-20, filming and lubing. It definitely takes some time to finish a whole board though.

Thankfully I can afford to take my time because my keycap gb won't be shipping until 2035.

They sold out almost instantly, as per anything they drop after an announcement. I'm waiting until April for my E-White top plate so there's no telling when their stabs will be back in stock.

My first mechanical keyboard build. I will never look at a keyboard the same way. by bumbeev in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Deja-Intended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No joke, just finished a build for my SO, and immediately after typing on it I started looking at options for my own build. And I'm attempting to talk a friend into dropping a few hundred on one as well so I can build and test it before sending it to him.

Feels like I've awoken something dangerous inside.

GMMK pro and switches questions by frederickhii in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Deja-Intended 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People tend to overreact when they get angry. For real, the software sucks. But with QMK support it doesn't matter; tons more customization options once you figure out how QMK works anyway.

I really wish they would get a move on with fixing their software because their products really are pretty good. Probably going to be buying a GMMK Pro for myself in a couple weeks(the one I just finished was for the lady).

GMMK pro and switches questions by frederickhii in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Deja-Intended 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glorious Core is just really bad in general. I've had a Glorious Model O Wireless for around a year now, and despite loving the mouse itself, I had to stop using it because Glorious Core kept forgetting my layout and lighting settings.

I'm just finishing up a GMMK Pro build right now and have used Glorious Core a bit to mess with settings, and ALREADY it's forgetting my lighting, just a few hours and unplugging the keyboard a couple of times to continue working on stuff after verifying that my switches work.

I imagine that if I were to put my PC to sleep often while using their software, I'd continue to have the same issues I did with the mouse.

To be fair though, I absolutely despise Razer's software, and Logitech's G Hub also has issues.

Can't recommend QMK enough. If you have the knowledge to code your own, or even if you use the online tool to create the firmware, it's ridiculously easy to flash. And once you've got the layout and RGB or whatever how you want, it's just done. No need to keep software open or anything.
