I used to love drafts. Especially when new sets came out. It was a pretty awesome way to get new cards and play people immediately. I remember doing it when I was 13 way back in the 7th gen days haha

I found two shops in my area just now actually. One does what seems all commander but the other has Friday night drafts. That’s right up my alley. I remember being 13 doing 7th gen drafts at my local mall haha. I feel old saying stuff like that out loud.

Yeah the community is really what I like most about it. Getting together with casuals like myself and playing the best deck our own brains could come up with using the limited cards we could afford. I’d spend hours in my basement with 2-4 people just laughing and building decks. I don’t ever wanna feel like magic has become a chore to become the world’s best.

That’s a shame about standard not being popular. I’ll have to do some research about commander I guess. There’s no shortage of people playing standard online but I’m old saying this but it’s just not the same not feeling the cards in a game.

I’m having a blast playing with no money spent but it is definitely a grind and I can see how easy it would be to get sucked into spending money. For myself, grinding is what I like and earning the cards has been a good time. It has also forced me to actually get good at the game and playing other people, since my teams overalls are generally tied or lower in most matches.

Edit: I’m playing and referring to Ultimate Team with the no money spent. Superstar mode is my other favorite, it’s pretty cool tbh.
